“This hotel is a small gem. Intimate, friendly, airy atmosphere. I loved having the tiny balcony overlooking the farmer's market! Spacious rooms were marred only by some maintenance that needed to be done (some peeling wallpaper in the bathroom, a knob missing from a closet door, and scratched paint on the balcony doors).”

  • Nice room and great location.
  • Asked for wakeup call, didn't get it, and missed my flight.

“The hotel was nice but I called for a wakeup call for 4:00 am in order to catch a 6:30 flight. The call never came and I missed my flight. This caused a lot of problems for me.”

  • The mattress was terrific. I think it was like a temper-pedicle. Exceptional quality.
  • Stains on the rug and chairs.

“I guess it was ok. It was better than I thought it would be, but it was a bit dingy. That gave the room a creepy, grungy feeling. But that mattress was superb! Staff excellent.”

“Nice rooms, but lack of restaurant was noticed. I booked this for my parents. My mom is on dialysis and the lack of quick, hot food was very noticeable. When we tried to eat in the hotel, there was only the bar and bar tables. When I asked why it took so long to get served. I was told that all of the servers were at the banquets. I've been there for banquets and they were very good. It seems like it's a good hotel for people who have the means to get around. There is no transit nearby, either. The staff was very friendly, just not very helpful with food issues.”

“Beautiful hotel that is going to undergo some renovation in December. I knew the hotel when it first opened and found that the part of the hotel that we stayed in was very tired. The location and friendliness of staff offset the negative esthetics.”

  • The location was amazing it was our first time visiting Boston.
  • The only think we didn't like when it was time to fly home.

“The location of the hotel was amazing. The room was very clean & comfortable. We were amazed that were was not a lot of street noise since we over looked the market. The staff was very helpful with directions & making our dinner reservations. We arrived early & there was no problem with leaving our luggage. We didn't want a car which gave us a great chance to walk to city since it was our first time in Boston. The whole experience was great.”

  • The bar at the 1st floor is very rude to the customers.

“Everything in the hotel is good, except for the bar. The bar at this hotel is very bad to the customers. They are not only ignoring us for 15 min, but also not want to serve us when we called them to order. I don't know if that is because of the racial discrimination for them. But they are just simply not willing to serve the customers.”

“The hotel room they gave us needed repair because the carpet was dirty and the wallpaper in the bathroom and hall were coming unpeeled. Also, the hotel did not have free business center access. We had to pay to use the computer.”

  • They did not have our room on the first night so they sent us to another hotel, paid for it, and upgraded us to a suite for the next 2 nights. Very friend.
  • They did not have our room.

  • Clean, conveniently located in center of activity to North End and Fanuil Hall and Bunker Hill.
  • No ice machines unless you requested room service.

“Small hotel feeling, simple lobby with registration desk, cookies upon arrival. My biggest problem was that upon entering my room, I saw a king size bed and I needed two double beds and they did not accommodate me until I bugged them so much they finally granted me a room with double beds the second night. They also transferred my entire luggage while we were sightseeing. Very honest staff and bell boys were informative. $40 parking is steep!”

  • I require ice each evening, and found it inconvenient to have to call room service.

“This is a lovely hotel right on the Freedom Trail. It's within walking distance to a lot of dining, shopping, and historic sites. The room was lovely and very clean, and the hotel staff very helpful. Decent but small exercise facility - no pool. The main restaurant was being remodeled but they had food service in the lounge area.”

  • The location is great. Right across from Faneuil Hall and one block from the "T". The check in process was quick and painless. Better than anywhere.
  • The rooms need some work. They are not up to 4 star standard

“I've stayed at this hotel before. The location and price are good. The rooms are a little small and in need of a little work but overall very clean. The amenities are nice and the staff was friendly. It did take forever to get a cab granted it was a Monday morning but I was surprised that there weren't any waiting in front of the hotel.”

  • Rooms badly in need of updates.

“I was extremely happy with the hotel. However, it is not a 4 star hotel. The rooms are dated, and some items of deferred maintenance were noted (one lamp worked poorly - hard to turn on and off, while another lamp was lacking a light bulb). The rooms were fairly dark - in need of improved lighting in general. The location is fantastic, but the hotel is in need of a complete overhaul. It is not a four star facility.”

  • It was pretty easy to get around on the T and to the North End from this hotel.
  • It was very old and needs to be updated. It fees like it could never get clean.

“The location was decent, and the lobby bar had a very sweet and helpful bartender, but the front desk staff (the 1 or maybe 2 people that actually were there) were surly and not welcoming at all. The room we received was right off the elevator with a tiny bathroom. It didn't feel clean because everything was so old and dingy.”

  • Had to ride up one set of elevators, then walk to another set to get to our room.

  • It's proximity to most of Boston's attractions!
  • Its pricing of items they had in a fully stocked refrigerator. Left no room for us to stock it ourselves!

“They were very hospitable and informative. However, their pricing of in-room items was outrageous and tempting right at your fingertips! It would be hard for a parent to keep kids out of. There were very many "tipping" areas vales, concierges, room service; I felt I was spending a lot in tips! The view from the very tiny balcony was amazing and I definitely felt like I was on vacation.”

“Although this hotel is situated perfectly, and appears it was run well at one time, currently that is not the case. Too few staff, unable to reach staff (housecleaning, front desk, etc) took phones off the hook at 7 pm nightly. Rooms were not cleaned (no vacuuming), no turn down service and no way to get ice (since no turn down). Very unhappy with the hotel overall. The concierge was the only exception, as both were wonderfully helpful.”

  • You could not beat the location. The balcony provided a view of Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall.
  • The hotel was kind of run down and the bed was very uncomfortable.

“Pros of The Millennium were the location, the bath tub size (and bath robes), and the balcony. Cons were the general appearance of the hotel (it was a little run down looking), the beds were extremely uncomfortable, and the mini bar was overpriced, even for a 4-star hotel.”

“Overall we had a nice stay at the Millennium Bostonian. You can't beat the location of the hotel- within short walking distance to Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market, T-station, North End Italian restaurants and bakeries, and Long Wharf (aquarium, boat excursions). We didn't find the hotel to be particularly family friendly, but that is not unusual for this level of hotel. I enjoyed the upscale bathroom toiletries and would have loved the oversize tub/shower had the handheld shower not leaked everywhere. Water pressure for shower was very poor (maybe partly due to leaking fixture). We were a bit disgusted by a large wet spot on the floor and the unknown dark brown substance on one of the bedspreads and bed skirts- housekeeping should have caught and corrected these problems prior to releasing the room to us.”

  • Great location. Walk to North End, Faniuel Hall, Tia's, Aquarium, Omni Theatre, Waterfront and marina.
  • Room was out dated, stained carpet, Dusty AC unit. And there was a dirty towel on the bed.

“It is not 4 star! The room and cleanliness of the carpet would not be acceptable in a 2 star. The bed was low to the ground and stiff as a board. The comforter looked like it was a horses blanket in a previous life. The bathroom was nice with an over sized shower with good water pressure. The location of the hotel is second to none. It is a short walk to Faniuuel hall/Quincy Market which has scores of bars restaurants and nightclub as well as shopping. Short walk to the North end which has many Italian restaurants and bakeries. I recommend a room in the front of the building overlooking Faniuel Hall. The rear of the hotel looks out on the Hay Market produce vendors and The Rose Kennedy Green way construction project.”

  • The location is superb. The views for some of the rooms are magnificent.
  • The rooms need to be totally renovated. Both carpeting and furniture were tired and dirty.

“I have stayed in this hotel several times for both business and pleasure. You can't beat the location. However, the property is in serious need of renovation. On this last stay, our bed had an actual valley in the middle, indicative of a mattress in dire need of replacement. The loveseat in our room had a big chunk missing from the arm and the carpet was filthy stained. The hotel staff was great they just need a property they can be proud to serve.”

  • There are far nicer 4-star hotels out there and the valet service is terrible.

“4-star for this hotel is a bit of a stretch. The location made up for some of the lacking elements in the hotel. Also, beware of the valet service. It took 50 minutes for them to retrieve my vehicle after being told it would take only 15 minutes. Needless to say, I was very frustrated, so they refunded me the parking fee. The only reason I would return to this hotel is if other hotels in the area are booked out and I need to be in this specific area.”

“This is a great place if you are nervous about driving around Boston. It's right off the expressway. Valets park your car and you are all set to walk around Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall. The room is very comfortable. We had a small balcony with a great view of the weekend farmer's market.”

  • We had to call for ice, would like ice machine available.

“Location is awesome, perfect for sightseeing. Hotel staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. We had to wait until 4 to check in which was a slight inconvenience, but not a big deal. The room was a bit small and carpet slightly worn, but I loved having 2 chairs in the room. The dressing room off from the toilet was nice as well as the umbrella and robes for our use. Clean, comfortable, and again, the location was awesome.”
