• Very clean.
• Parking was terrible. Only 4 handicapped spaces and all were full.

“Nice hotel but parking was terrible. I am handicapped and had to park at least a block away (in the parking lot) from the entrance and walk/limp to the door. This is a big hotel and even bigger parking lot with only 4 handicapped spaces at the entrance and all were full during the time we were there.”

• Very nice and clean with tons of amenities at a great value.
• Not enough staff at desk during peak hours.

“This hotel is in a great location convenient to the motorways and airport. The rooms are very nice, clean, and spacious. Cleanliness seems to be a priority and the hotel has all the amenities you would want whether you are traveling for business or pleasure. Very well thought out. The only negative I saw was there seemed to be a lack of staff during peak hours. I would definitely stay here again.”

• Airport shuttle was not complimentary.

“I highly praise the staff of this hotel. They were friendly and efficient. We had a medical emergency while there, and they were very helpful in directing us to a hospital, and helping use extend our stay. The room was very comfortable, attractive and clean. While it is near the airport, and there is a shuttle, it is not complimentary.”

“Staff good, not excellent. Very clean, attractive room furnishings, no clock radio. Close to many dining alternatives in charming town nearby. Complimentary coffee not refreshed when requested, ignored by staff. Bed extremely comfortable and lovely sheets.”

• Efficient, friendly and professional.
• Some of the pillows smelt like they had water damage.

“Convenient with great pick up and drop off service to and from the airport. Friendly staff, they really need to leave more bathroom supplies for travelers i.e. - toothpaste and toothbrush for emergencies. Breakfast is on time or it's free.”

• The entire staff was helpful, courteous and kind.
• Having to step out of my room and go either to the designated smoking area out in front of the hotel, or the courtyard when I wanted to smoke.

“I was amazed by how great this hotel was. From converting dollars to pounds to answering questions about sites. The rooms were sparkling clean and the shuttle service to either the airport or the train station was superb. They allowed me to check in early when my plane landed ahead of schedule. I felt very comfortable and safe staying in this hotel.”

• Odor from the bathroom.

“Overall it was very pleasant. I arrived late and was tired and the beds were very comfortable. Parking is adequate but a long walk to reception. The only bad item was the strong urine odor coming from the toilet. I think they need to use fresheners.”

• As with most Marriotts. Great quality. Great service.
• The hotel, although an "airport" hotel, is a good 15 minutes from the airport.

“Excellent hotel. Good bar area with flight info on the monitors. Nice service shuttle to the front door of your terminal. Excellent for the business traveler. I took a taxi too the hotel to say time. About 4.50 pounds. Then shuttle on the return.”

• The hotel was very beautiful. However, staff was not very friendly or accommodating.
• I was to receive breakfast and did not. Staff embarrassed me in front of my wife and other guests regarding my inquiry.

“The hotels staff needs to realize that guests, pay to stay there. And can choose to stay anywhere. The hotel's staff should be friendly to their guests and not so rude. People there acted like they were doing us a favor for simply doing there job.”

“The staff went out of their way to meet our needs; there were snacks in the lobby 24 hours. The shuttle service was excellent. Rooms very large, best bed I have ever slept in. Would definitely stay there again, very quiet.”

• Arrived with granddaughter and they gave me a family room at no extra charge.
• Restaurant prices a little high and no childs menu (but child friendly food provided).

“This hotel has excellent facilities for travelers. The pool and spa area are excellent. The rooms were very clean and well appointed. They are undergoing refurbishment at this time but it is being very well managed. Airport shuttles convenient, hotel staff especially friendly and helpful. Great traveler hotel!”

• Inability to get hot food after 11pm.

“Shuttle service was adequate. Warm and efficient check in allowed me to check in early when I asked if they could hold my bags until the afternoon. Very disappointed at the non availability of food after 11 pm. The staff brusquely informed me the kitchen was closed. A satisfactory stay and met most of my needs (except the need for food when returning to the hotel at 11pm).”

• Extremely comfortable beds and clean rooms.
• Some of the stairways were a little dirty and there were breakfast trays left uncollected outside rooms in the evening.

“I would certainly stay at the Marriott again as the free shuttle was convenient for the airport running every half an hour and it was a good overnight choice. I was upgraded to an Executive Double room which was wonderful, extremely comfortable and very nicely decorated. The Executive lounge only provided a small selection of complimentary soft drinks, but was a nice quiet space in which to relax and read the paper. Waitress service was available in there from the bar and restaurant. I did not have the opportunity to try the complimentary breakfast in the morning as I valued my sleep too much, but a continental breakfast is served from 6.30 for those who have access. Overall, I had a very positive experience.”

• The dining experience was very disappointing.

“We had a mix up with an order for a party of 5 people. The server failed to order one of the meals. When he offered to replace the missing order with any item on the menu at no cost, we were left waiting for 45 minutes until the meal was brought. The rest of the party had waited until the could no longer for fear of their food getting cold. The free meal was refused when ultimately delivered.”

“At check in, all staff on duty were new trainees and not yet competent; poor management to have only trainees at the desk. When an experienced person did show up, she was very, very attentive. Large, comfortable rooms in awkward sprawling layout.”

“Marriott Manchester stated that they were sold out and moved me to a less expensive hotel within the airport complex. I have a feeling they wanted to sell my room for the full price so they used a "sold out" line. I was very disappointed that they used these tactics to make a few pounds.”

• Great hotel for business travel or travelers needing close access to the airport.
• This hotel would not be the best if you wanted to be close to town for sight-seeing, etc.

“The hotel is large with many amenities including Internet access and work-out facilities. There was also three choices for dining. The staff was very nice and we were quickly picked up at the Manchester train station/airport and dropped off the next morning to catch our flight.”

• The facilities were incredible, especially the luxurious pool, steam room, sauna.
• A bit far from the train station.

• For UK standards, this is an excellent hotel. Room was very good size, fantastic bed, bath US size.
• Hotel was a couple of miles from Manchester airport, compared to closer in other properties

• Can't think of one thing I didn't like.

“This Manchester Marriott is a superior location, and used to be a 4 Seasons the locals told me. The pool facilities are unbelievable - more like the Roman Baths! They have 'family rooms' (2 double beds) that are very nice. Very comfortable beds, a staff that is friendly, great bar and restaurant. AND even though this is a few miles from the airport, I didn't hear one plane fly over. Best hotel I have ever stayed.”

• Room service was not entirely satisfactory. Meals took over an hour to arrive.

• Close to the airport and free 24 hr shuttle service.
• Free TV stations could be better.

“We stayed in this Hotel only for one night. upon arrival we placed a free call to the hotel and we got picked up within minutes and the check in process was easy and event less We requested and got a room on the 1st floor. The carpet seemed old, but room was clean and large.”

• All doors slammed waking us up in the morning, laid out poorly, too far from airport, cold water didn't work at times.

“I would not stay here again. The slamming of doors and noise from people walking in hallways makes it difficult to sleep after the early departures start leaving.”

• Has a fitness room, close to airport.
• A rabbit warren. Could not find room or elevator. Ordered shuttle for 7 am could not take all who booked.

“Almost impossible to find rooms. Met lots of young and old guests completely lost unable to locate room. Could not recommend it. Too many steps, never found the elevator although it was well signposted!”

• Excellent restaurants and bars.
• The pool area could have been maintained better nor did I find the staff in the spa/gym particularly helpful.

“The hotel as a whole was run quite well. The room was beautiful with wonderful amenities. There are great restaurants and bars on site with excellent food and an attentive wait staff. The hotel front counter staff overall was OK - some genuinely warm and helpful while others seemingly bothered by my presence (hmmm...).”
