• The room was comfortable and had enough room to move around in. The view was wonderful.
• For a suite I think the bathroom should have been laid out so that shower and the toilet were in separate rooms. That would make easier for everyone.

• The buffet, the size of the room.
• There was very little for children to do. They need an arcade.

• Very nice room and the housekeeping staff were very accommodating.
• The seafood buffet was closed and the security at the hotel was not good. There was a fight and security was not around to assist.

“Overall, I liked the hotel. My concern was the hotel's lack of security. There was an altercation at the hotel and if we had not screamed for security I really don't think they would have noticed. They didn't seem to care that we were very shaken up - they just stood there and looked at us. I would probably stay away for while due to that fact - especially if I were traveling alone.”

• Definitely the hotels location (off the strip and its traffic that is avoided), prompt service and very cozy room.
• It's probably not applicable to you but the overall layout of the hotel lobby, restaurants, etc., is very confusing.

“All in all, we enjoyed being able to arrive at the hotel without the delay of traffic (right off the 15), being directed to our room promptly and having access to restaurants and cocktail lounges at our convenience. I would definitely consider making reservations at this hotel again.”

• Food was good and not overpriced.
• Rooms were dated/especially the TV

“The hotel is all suites but this is being generous. The rooms are definitely bigger than standard but I would hardly call it a suite. Furniture is a bit dated and television needed to be replaced. Definitely not a 4 star property. Casino was nothing special.”

• Big room, lots of restaurant choices.
• We don't smoke and the air filter system seemed to send smoke into our room.

“The room was big and beautiful. The beds comfortable, 2 sinks were nice. Lots of extra room, a couch and chairs and a desk. I only didn't like the smell of cigarettes through the air filter system. It was nice.”

• Rooms did not smell of cigarette smoke!
• New restaurant opened too soon - was not prepared to serve customers.

“We really enjoyed the cleanliness of our rooms. For being in Las Vegas, this hotel does an excellent job of providing a non-smoking room. This hotel had a new restaurant open, but by 7:00pm they had run out of several items on their menu. The restaurant was too dark, menus could not be read. Service was poor. We ended up with three different servers and never knew why.”

• Beautiful, nice staff.
• My first trip there the pillow cases were all clean on both sides (do a sniff test) this time ONE WAS CLEAN ON ONE SIDE.

• The room was nice, very spacious with a good view.
• The check in took forever, the lady was smoky.

“Overall this stay was ok. The room was very nice with a good view. The room was non-smoking but the floor wasn't so often the smoke would come in. The lobby was very smoky as were the restaurants. I would not eat in the restaurants because of this. Too many alternatives.”

• Location.
• Filthy bathroom, rude guest services employee, but only one of them. The rest were superb, room dirty with trash on floor, bathroom the worst.

“Front desk services were superb, efficient and friendly. Their guest services dept was inefficient, didnt listen to my request and responded incorrectly, housekeeping left trash on the floor (empty water bottles, etc), hair on counters and in tub, and mucus in the bathroom sink. I cleaned it myself. They also left us without towels on the 2nd day. Everything else was acceptable, and I recommend the buffet for a quick and delicious meal option when you're on the go.”

• The decoration isn't as attractive as those 5 stars ones.

“Overall pretty good value for the price we paid. It is quite convenient as long as you drive because geographically it is not far from the strip. Restaurant and lounge don't seem very attractive and the famous seafood buffet was closed due to renovation.”

• The hotel is currently under renovation, construction can be noisy & many things closed. Too far from the "strip".

“This aging hotel and casino is not likely to regain its appeal even as minor renovation continues. As of December 2007, many restaurants are closed on the site and the experience of being a distance from the "strip" can range from inconvenient to expensive. This hotel has moved into the realm of bargain alternative as compared to other Vegas properties.”

• The view from the window in my room, and the elevator going to the Voodoo nightclub.
• The courtesy and the service leaves much to be desired a lot of the workers have conflicting information they were no help.

• Newly renovated rooms excellent check in staff.
• The system was not updated with the items that were to come with the package.

“Hotel is in the process of renovation the front desk staff is way above average for the casino hotel scene. Many restaurants were closed due to remodeling. The hotel is off the strip but has adequate shuttle service to strip area. So for a superior room and if you are willing to deal with the shuttle service it is an excellent value.”

• Seafood village buffet. Large room.
• Valet parking, All rooms smell like smoke.

“Our stay was fantastic considering the price. The room was large, clean and comfortable, although it was a non-smoking room that smelled like smoke. The only mar on the trip was when the valet attendant sat on my keys for 20 minutes prompting me to go to the counter and tell at them.”

• The bathtub was wider than is typical in other hotels.
• It was mildly inconvenient to get to the main Las Vegas strip.

“The Rio is set up to be a party destination. The Mardi Gras theme in the masquerade lounge was fun. And the buffets were indescribable. The food was so good; I wanted to return to try more of the options long after I was too full to eat any more.”

• Room water was shut off! Banging on pipes 2 a.m.!

“Over all a nice place. We enjoyed the wine bar. A fun and friendly atmosphere. What we thought was poor was the lack of communication and horrible timing in shutting off our water in the room. And to boot, it appeared a plumber was banging on pipes that reverberated in our room! An extremely low class move!”

• The room was fantastic. Suite feeling for typical room price.
• Cigarette smoke was thicker and more pervasive in this hotel than others.

“The Rio is not among the newer hotels in Vegas, but it boasts fantastic comfortable rooms that are more like suites. Bedding and decor was modern and attractive. The casino portions of the hotel are a bit older than other newer casinos and may lack some of the newer air filtering systems as cigarette smoke seemed to be more pervasive and bothersome in the Rio than in other casinos on the strip. Its location just off the strip was somewhat inconvenient, but so much so. Simply use the free shuttle or, like we did, just jump into cabs for $6 rides and there along the strip.”

• The lack of sufficient air conditioning ruined our stay.

“When we reported the poor air conditioning, the manager told us there was nothing he could do about it, or for us. He lacked common courtesy and seemed generally unaffected by our discomfort.”

• Very spacious rooms considering the price and star-rating compared to anywhere else on or near the strip.
• Small gaming floor, not too convenient to strip, strangely assembled pool area.

“The room was fantastic and huge considering the price and comparable hotels. Small gaming area - and poor free show. It is also a fair way from the strip, so there are smaller crowds in the bars and restaurants which can be a pro or con. The pay television also did not work for my entire stay and there is no wife, so I had to do all my work from the desk and couldn't take advantage of the sofa or bed.”

• Did not have requested (by phone 7 hours in advance) handicap/non smoking room available.

• The restaurant accommodations were excellent and the buffet was unquestionably the best Ive seen.
• A check in desk clerk seemed too busy with his computer to welcome my wife and I.

“The Rio is just off the main Vegas strip but does provide shuttle service to other casinos. Its entertainment offerings are superb, its rooms are exceptionally clean, and its restaurants are wonderful. An excellent value overall. The only thing detracting from our brief stay was a rude desk person at check in (he completely ignored us for several minutes while he fuzzed with his computer). The rest of the staff was professional, courteous and friendly.”

• The room size and decor in Ipanema tower were great.

“The remodeled rooms in the Ipanema tower are fantastic--handsome modern "hotel" decor in 600 SF. Being off the strip is inconvenient if you don't have a car, but there are shuttles and the distance allows some breathing room away from the Strip madness. The restaurants were not inviting to a family with a kid-smoky, expensive and crowded looking-we didn't eat there.”

“I booked a double bed with two people, room only had a king bed. After I called the front desk they offered me a roll away bed take it or leave it. After several spirited discussion room was changed a double bed. The restaurants were terrible.”

• Masquerade in the sky- fun show, collected a lot of beads.
• Overpriced restaurants, pools closed at 6:00pm.

“Easy check-in @ the airport, good sized rooms, mattress was old. Should have complained, but did not. All employees were very nice and helpful. Would have been nice to have a coffee maker in the room, got tired of going to the shops for their coffee. Shuttles to the other sister property's were very good, but one of the drivers was very weird (old man). Being memorial day weekend, you would have thought that the all pools would have been opened and stay open later than 6:00pm. It was so hot, that an evening swim would have been nice!”

• Lovely, spacious, comfortable rooms, delightful staff.
• Could not get on the internet with my laptop, did not have time to struggle with it. Self parking was long walk.

“Newly remodeled and spacious. Spacious, quiet rooms, nice distance from the noise of the casino. Very comfortable beds. The staff was pleasant, friendly and helpful. Self parking was quite a long walk from our room and a little confusing. Older folks might want to use the valet parking. The casino was bright, colorful and fun. We enjoyed our stay immensely.”

• I liked the size of the room and the food at the buffet.
• After being asked smoking or non smoking room, and replying non smoking, the attendant said all they had was smoking.

“The room was pretty awesome. The shower was a little dark, it could have used some other curtains, or a light. The view was kind of ugly we basically just saw the back of the building and it was always hard to tell if it was sunny. Which is pretty hard in Vegas. Overall, it was a nice stay.”

• It is definitely geared to people in their twenties.
• Does not have the elegance or sophistication of many of the other casino hotels in Vegas. The whole place needs a facelift.

“Nothing special just a decent hotel with one perk the rooms are spacious one major complaint if you are on business is there is no wireless internet access instead you have to pay ten dollars a day and hook up a line into your computer even super 8 offers free wireless internet the last time I stayed here I was a lot younger and I enjoyed myself this time not so much I recommend this place for young people and bachelor parties but not for couples looking for the romantic experience or for business travelers.”

• I liked all the great restaurants and clubs in the hotel.
• Our bathroom was not clean when we checked into our room.

“I felt that they rectified the dirty bathroom. They came up and reclined the bathroom immediately and they were very friendly. There were lots to do in the hotel. Voodoo lounge was awesome. They have the best restaurants in the hotel and they are very reasonably priced.”

• Spacious, comfortable suites.
• Location is off the strip, but not necessarily a negative thing.

“My stay at this hotel was pleasant. The only issue I found was that when I was checking in, there was not enough personnel to attend all the waiting guest. I had to wait a very long time. Other than that, everything was good!”
