- The lobby is gorgeous and the location right in the middle of everything.
- I expected just a little bit more plush ness and there was no room in the fridge for my things.
“The staff was extremely nice. When we told them it was our honeymoon, they sent us some chocolate-covered strawberries. They also worked hard to get us a room so we could check in early. I loved the location, although if driving in, the one-way streets are a hassle.”

- Small rooms. Very high priced parking.
“The parking is out of line - costs more to park than to rent a car. The room was extremely small. No place for the suitcase with it on the stand in front of the chair (only place to put it), I could not get to the desk to work in the evening. I discovered the outlets for charging things like my cell phone or computer did not work - in the morning - too late to do much at that point. There was no counter space in the bathroom - only a porcelain sink. Shower was also very small. Did not meet my business needs at all.”

- The beds were luxurious and great amenities.
- Could hear the neighbors talking in the next room.
“This hotel was close to all the tourist attractions and the Freedom trail went right by the hotel. The room was clean and spacious. The bathroom was small, but was adequate for my husband and myself. The bed was luxurious with pillow top mattress and a feather down mattress pad on top. They provided a feather down comforter for cooler nights. The room had all the amenities: iron, hair dryer, safe, extra blankets and pillows. They even had bath robes in the closet for you to use. I would highly recommend this hotel.”

- The hotel staff was exceptionally friendly!
- There was no guest parking and it cost $38 a night! Also, no pool or continental breakfast.

- The staff was remarkably helpful especially in the hotel lobby with someone always standing by ready to help.
- Traffic congestion outside made it hard to park to drop off anything and the valet parking was pricey.
“This hotel was magnificent in every way. From complimentary beverages and newspaper in the morning to the outstanding beds so comfortable. I haven't slept that well in a long time. Made my bed pale in comparison. The staff was always friendly and ready to assist. I would definitely want to stay in this hotel again.”

- Exceptionally comfy beds. courteous and helpful staff. elegant ambience. Terrific workout room.
- Parking a bit pricey. Room size fine for a couple but a bit cramped when putting two young adult children into the mix.
“This hotel exceeded my expectations. Cannot beat the location for experiencing Boston's rich history. The lobby is so elegant and the staff immediately welcoming and helpful. We never had to wait long for an elevator and they travel quickly. Our room was wonderful - the bed was so comfy it was hard to drag ourselves out to site-see. The flat screen TV was great for watching the Olympics while getting ready to go out. The workout room really surprised us - it was very nice, and the fresh oranges were a nice touch! We would definitely stay at this hotel on our next visit. The only minus point was the expensive parking - kind of takes away the fun of staying.”

- I loved the location and the hotel.
- The hotel is on the tours as the haunted hotel. I had to leave one day early because my daughter was terrified. I had to drive 3 hours at 11 pm.

No internet connection in the room, you had to go to the lobby for service so bring a laptop and prepare to fight for seating in the lobby. Good luck managing that! Other than the parking fee and the internet connection -- I love this place and will gladly stay here again. Minus the car.”

“The valet drivers took our car rushed us out so we forgot things in it. We didn't know it was an options not to leave it with them and when it was returned we had to drive home with three warning lights on our dash. People seemed courteous enough and the hotel was clean.”

- The service was some of the best we have ever received! Will stay here again!
- Needed more room to put away personal items in bathroom and room (no dresser) closet too small to hang anything but shirts.
“Excellent service, excellent staff! Convenient location! They even sent up complimentary strawberries and champagne for our anniversary. This hotel chain also has one of the best customer reward programs that allows you to receive free internet, turndown service and complimentary beverage service delivered to your room in the morning! Only downside was that the rooms do not have much storage space to put away your clothes and toiletries but everything else more than made up for it!”

- Location in city was fantastic, and concierge services were most helpful.
- Room looked at the new construction next door, and small room might be a challenge for longer stays.
“We stayed at this hotel for just one night and it was perfect for our needs. Location was great and it was fun to be in such a historic hotel. The guest room was very nicely appointed. The lobby supervisor was there to answer any question we had and help us maximize our short time in the city. Though it would've been nice to have some sort of a view, we didn't expect it and it didn't detract from our stay as we spent most our time enjoying the city. Would definitely stay at the hotel again.”

“This was an excellent hotel in the center of everything. My daughter and I stayed there and we really enjoyed it. The bathroom was small as has been previously noted, but the hotel is really old, so I would expect the rooms to be small. It would have been a tight squeeze for more than 2 people in the room. The beds were really comfortable and the AC worked great. There didn't seem to be AC in the hallways, and had a funky smell but the rooms themselves were fine. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. Overall, a great experience.”

“Aside from the construction next door, there was little to complain about. Although, the carpet throughout the 2nd floor needs to be replaced because it has the smell of mildew. My son claimed it smelled like soup. The lobby and restaurant were the best maintained areas. Plenty of lounge area if you wanted to people watch. I would come back here.”

- The hotel staff was very helpful, My 13 y/o was impressed by the beds and pillows!
- They did not have a price list in the room regarding the in room snack.

- It took me back in time with the elegant detail of the era everywhere.
- You need to go to the lobby to get a key to open the fridge.
“It's located close to everything whether walking, cab or T. The king bed was THE most comfortable thing I've ever slept on. Luxury bedding, cushy and comfy. The bathroom was small but it was very nicely decorated and served its purpose. I felt appreciated by all employees. The bellhop to the man who delivered the extra roll-away was very helpful and kind. Not just in and out but very cordial and actually looked like they enjoyed their jobs unlike at other hotels. Wonderful experience and I plan to stay again in Sept. for my anniversary. Oh, and the concierge. Wonderful.”

- Rooms are pretty small, but that's normal in Boston.

- Convenient to all things to see and do, beautiful lobby.
- Rooms are small and not exceptionally decorated.
“Old well-known distinguished hotel in heart of downtown near common. But with many older city hotels, the room was small and not appointed nor amenities in manner of newer establishments. View out window was dismal.”
