• Mini bar overpriced even by mini bar standards.

“This place manages to maintain a consistent level of quality. It's not very romantic, it's not overly luxurious, but it is clean, comfortable and convenient to downtown Boston.”

“The Hyatt Regency Boston Financial District is a conveniently located four-star hotel within short walking distance of the major attractions (e.g. Freedom Trail) and Subway stations. The staff at check-in was exceptionally friendly and really seemed to care about our well-being. The only downsides were the smell of cigarettes in a non-smoking room (they apologized and offered to send someone up to spray it, though) and the fact that no one seems to have cleaned the area behind the TV chest (which was visible) in what seemed like 10 years (a lot, and I mean a lot of dust).”

“If you are looking for a hotel in a prime Boston location, this is a fine choice. However, I would not describe it as a 4-star hotel. The rooms are fine (not extravagant but generally okay) but there are lot of additional charges and hassles including 10$/day for internet (many hotels even have free WiFi these days) and fees for watching any premium channels on TV. Also the business center is not very affordable and has a minimum charge of 5$ per session (even to check your email for one minute). I also had a few problems with my room. I was told to expect a king size bed but upon arrival was informed that there were only rooms with two-double beds left. This was not acceptable as this was supposed to be a romantic getaway with my girlfriend. In the morning we had the room changed, but then later in the day our key just stopped working. Also, on the following day we were billed for internet service we did not use. I expected a bit more from a 4-star hotel.”

“This is a nice hotel in a central location. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable. The only complaint I had was the walls are not soundproof and conversations from next door could be clearly heard.”

• It was very clean. also, allowed to check in when room was ready instead of waiting for check in time.
• Entrance to parking is confusing and street construction in are made it difficult to get to hotel.

• The concierge was awesome. They gave us a ton of useful information.
• In order to get to the lobby, you need to go down 4-5 stairs before taking the elevator.

“The hotel was great. Staff was gracious and extremely helpful. Near a T stop on the orange line which was convenient. We took the T from the airport to the hotel and had to walk only two blocks. Great location. About 2 blocks from Boston Commons where the Freedom Trail begins. Spacious business center. Concierge was wonderful even printed out maps and directions.”

• Great location. Very nice bed.
• Pool water was milky. Very little seating around pool. Not worth the trip to get there.

“Valet parking was $42 with no in/out! Adjacent self parking lot was $32 with in/out. (Parking anywhere in Boston is expensive.) Hotel location is excellent - 10 minute walk to Quincy Marketplace and other attractions. Abundant shopping and restaurants were just outside door. Front desk and concierge exceedingly welcoming. Room was clean, comfortable and the bed was a heavenly cloud. The pool was disappointing. And the only way to get a fresh cup of coffee was to buy $20 breakfast at the hotel restaurant. But overall I would recommend this hotel. Boston is a great city! Wear comfortable shoes!”

• The hotel is blocks away from the Boston Commons and State capitol and overall is in a very good location.
• I did not like the fact there was an elevator to get to the lobby and then a separate one to get to the rooms. This seems like a waste of time.

“The hotel room was well appointed and very clean. The location could not have been better for a leisure traveler, being blocks away from the Boston Commons, the State capitol building and the Freedom Trail. Overall, I had an excellent stay.”

“Great location. This hotel has a lot going for it. The two drawbacks were staff's lack of attention on 4 occasions we asked for a layaway bed to be added to the room and not once was it done. The other drawback is outrageously expensive parking fees.”

“We went to this hotel for a three night stay in Boston. We have four children so we needed connecting rooms. The rooms and bathrooms were large. Exactly what you need with a family of six.”

• Overnight parking was steep ($3.00) a night but I suppose that is the average rate for a hotel in Boston.

“We had a great stay at this hotel. Staff from the valet, to doorman, housekeeping and guest services were extremely nice and professional. The hotel was very modern with nice amenities.”

• The bed was very comfortable, well located, clean and neat.
• The sound on the TV was too quiet. A technician had to come up to adjust it.

• First room I rec'd was noisy, I asked to be moved, and second room was fine.

“The hotel has little or no charm, and the lobby is confusing because it's on the third floor not at street level, however it has all necessary modern amenities, is very clean, and in a very central location within convenient walking distance to many restaurants, shopping areas, and attractions. The concierge service is friendly and efficient, and the valet parking is good also, but expensive and necessary because street parking is not available.”

• It was fabulous overall.
• The valet parking was way overpriced.

“This hotel is beautiful and super conveniently located. It's super fancy but still a place you feel comfortable walking into with your family, and we were traveling with three young children. The pool is beautiful and has a separate area for serious swimmers and people that are just relaxing. The staff was helpful and inviting. We felt like royalty.”

• Very nice location. Comfortable rooms.
• Room was not ready for us at 6:30 PM when we arrived. Took more than 1 hour to get room.

“I was not pleased upon arrival at 6:30 PM when we were told there were no rooms available yet to check into. We had a dinner reservation at 8:30 and needed to get ready. We were told to check back in an hour and did so, and the room was still not ready. We finally got someone to get us a room, but we had to move our dinner reservation back. The room was nice though, and we did get complimentary breakfast the next day for our troubles. All in all, it was a good hotel; it was just unfortunate that our stay had to start out as it did. Also, upon checkout, the credit card machines were not working, so they had to email us receipts.”

• The lobby is beautiful, the restaurant is fantastic.
• You can't enter from the street. You have to go down stairs, then take the elevator up to the lobby.

“We had requested and were supposedly given a room with a king size bed. We get to the room and it was actually two double beds. When we called down, they told us they would look into it and call us back. No one called back. We went back downstairs and were then told the hotel was fully booked and there weren't any other rooms available. It just would have been nice if they had told us that at the beginning. There were a lot of instances of poor quality construction noticeable in our room and in the restaurant. There were pencil lines all over the off-white wallpaper from when they hung pictures. The way to get into the hotel is clunky and unnecessary. The location for us was fantastic. We were across the street from the opera house that we were going to. The location for us was fantastic. • Difficult to reach because of one-way streets and entrance did not lead to main floor but to basement.

“The Hyatt Regency is a good hotel and the service was excellent. The rooms are somewhat sterile and unimaginative. Our TV did not work properly and, although they offered to move us, we had already settled in. Not sure why they just didn't bring a new TV.”

“Enjoyed my stay at the Hyatt Regency Boston. Nice room, kids loved the large indoor pool. Great location, convenient for business in the Financial District and convenient to the public gardens and Freedom Trail. Easy walk to Quincy Market. Just wish they had a easier setup for accessing the Internet. Signing up for t-mobile WiFi service was nearly impossible!”

• The staff was friendly and the bed was very comfortable.
• I was disappointed in getting the room with the handicapped bathroom. I am not handicapped and would have preferred a regular bathroom. I felt like.

• Loved the exercise equipment, continental breakfast was amazing, location of hotel was convenient to attractions.
• Stairs in the pool made it difficult to enter the water, shower controls in bathroom was hard to reach when taking a bath, elevators were very slow.

• Concierge recommended a really nice restaurant.
• Room smelled like smoke, health facility was very dirty and unkempt.

“I can't imagine that this hotel was worse quality when it was a Holiday Inn. Dirty common spaces, the floor in the pool area and dressing room was worse. Probably the worst kept public space I've encountered outside of a hostel.”

• The location was great, staff was helpful and room was beautiful.
• I did not like taking 2 elevators.

“I have 2 comments. One was that you had to take an elevator from the street to the lobby and then take another elevator to the room. That got old after a while. The other comment was that the pool was a very long walk with lots of stairs and someone who was disabled would not have access to it.”

• The attentiveness of the staff.
• Small details - wasn't cleaned properly, took a while to get extra towels.

“I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The only real complaint I had was that we were on the floor with the pool so we had a ton of foot traffic to deal with. There is also no hot tub which I saw as a disappointment. The hotel bar staff was excellent and the food was worth a little extra.”
