• Comfy bed with lots of pillows. Restaurant food was tasty.
• My room could have been cleaner. Carpet was dirty and furniture a bit dusty.

“Front desk employee could have been more friendly. Was told there was only one available room on the smoking floor. I told her I didn't want smoking floor and was happy enough to wait. In the end she managed to find a room that was on a non-smoking floor and ready for occupancy.”

• The location and it was clean.

• Easy walking distance to all the sights.
• Dirty under the beds food from previous guest under the beds.

“The floors were not clean at this hotel. We did not feel like a lot of attention to details was given to this hotel for this star rating. It seemed more like a one star or two star hotel due to the cleanliness of the room. We were disappointed.”

• The rooms and dining.
• It costs $1 a page to print at the business center. No room WiFi.

“This is a very nice, clean hotel with a fantastic location in center city Philly. As a place to stay, there is nothing to complain about. They have a great breakfast buffet and nice casual restaurant as well. There are only a few negatives to this hotel. 1) There is no free internet access in the rooms. You have to pay $9.95/day for wired high-speed access. There is free WiFi in the lobby, but it stinks having to head down there with your laptop to check email. In this day and age, there should be free WiFi throughout the hotel. 2) Printing in the business center is ridiculous. It costs $1 per page for black and white printing. I don't see how Doubletree can charge that much when their sister property - Hilton Garden Inn - has free printing. Hilton Garden Inn also has free in-room WiFi. 3) While I did not smell any smoke in my non-smoking room/floor, they still do allow smoking on certain floors. There is no excuse for that in this day and age. Should be a completely non-smoking hotel like most places. However, when all is said and done, would I stay there again?”

• The Doubletree Hotel in Philadelphia had a nice outside deck.
• The view was just ok.

“This hotel was at a great location. Right smack in the middle of Center City Philadelphia. The room was big and very comfortable and clean. Just cant beat it.”

“We were given a smoking room and I did not want a smoking room. We asked to change and the only room they had available was a room by the elevators. It was very small and we had to rent a cot, to fit all the travelers in the room.”

• The room was so noisy that we could not sleep well.

“The hotel is old, and the elevator is old. And my room is right next to the elevator. You have the picture. Every time the elevator was in use, there was the screeching noise. For a big hotel (26 story tall), the elevator is always in use. Obviously, no one else would want a noisy room; I was stuck with it for two nights.”

• The restaurant was excellent especially their eggs benedict, great hollandaise sauce.
• Mistakenly placed me in room that may have been a smoking room.

• We held a Conference and the staff involved was super helpful.
• Nothing.

“The hotel is conveniently located in the "Avenue of the Arts". Metro is close by lots of restaurants, Chinatown, Museums within walking distance. The hotel is superbly kept and has a nice decor.”

• The staff was very nice and the room was kept clean!
• The fact we had to pay for the internet.

“I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. We felt welcomed each time we came in and out of the hotel. After I made my reservations I called and made sure that everything went through and they had booked me a Smoking room. If I not have called, like most people, that would have not been ok with me being a non-smoker! Other wise I believe the hotel I stayed at are very nice!”

• We found a dirty diaper and candy wrapper under the bed, we could not get wireless in the room- had to go to another business room or the lobby.

• Was forced to take a smoking room.

“Excellent location, good gym, overpriced breakfast buffet, was given a room on the lowest floor (6) which is the smoking floor. I don't smoke and asked for another room, but they claimed they didn't have any. Anyway, the entire floor reeked of cigarette smoke, awful for a non-smoker.”

• First room was smoking--had to ask to change. Stunk!

“This hotel is in the theater district and not far from historical areas and museums. If you get a view overlooking Broad Street--you have the old City Hall to look at every night and it is beautifully lit. Staff was efficient and friendly. The pool and gym were small, clean, and enjoyable. The first room had a yellow ceiling and stunk. In fact, the whole floor stunk as soon as you exited the elevator. Desk staff was friendly and changed us to a non-smoking room that more than met expectations. The bedding is very comfortable.”

“Great location, food in restaurant is moderate, ok for business travelers, elevators can be heard running distinctly from inside of some rooms, night and day. Front desk staff gave me some difficulty in checking in. I had to wait for my "husband" in order to check in even though room was totally paid for. We were only given a queen size bed, but we really needed a king. We would not stay again at this hotel. There are too many other fine ones in the area.”

“I've stayed here a couple of times once in summer and again in winter. Good price for hotel. Rooms nice. Within very easy walking distance of trendy shopping street. I would stay there again.”

• The location is great & the staff was very friendly. Nice pool and hot tub too.
• The toe Nail clippings on the bathroom floor from previous guest & the thick dust in the bathroom vent.

• With a packed city, the staff went the extra mile to find us a non-smoking room.
• At first, they put us in a smoking room that reeked and could not move us - until our 9-year old son broke out in tears.

“This is an up-scale city-style hotel, with what you would expect for services. The prices of additional services (internet, local phone), however, are not included and expensive. Overall, if I want to stay right in the middle of things, then this is likely one of the better places to stay.”

“Nice hotel in a good location. I wonder if ac/heat vents are ever cleaned. I could look directly into the room unit, and see very dirty filters. Since my son has allergies, I was worried about the air quality in the room.”

• Internet should be free in the room if it is free in the lobby.

“We had a room with a king sized bed. The room was clean and nicely appointed. The staff went out of their way to be helpful in a variety of ways. Internet was free in the lobby but was $10 per day in the room. Parking was pricey - $20 per night. There is cheaper parking nearby if you don't mind the walk.”

• The front-desk attendants' dishonesty regarding the room booking and the availability of other rooms.

“Early check-in was denied. I have never had a problem with this as non-smoking is part of my preferred profile; this was also an exception in that I had not called the hotel directly to confirm non-smoking. I had to encourage the search for a few alternatives as the 1st 3 suggested were right by elevators: ended up with a prime room on 20th floor (there are 26 total). Ironic that there were so many available rooms after she had insisted that they were completely booked solid, & that I'd have to accept the smoking-room! Once settled in, the room, daily maid-service and moderate noise level (doors slamming/loud conversations) were highly appreciated. Great location as it is near the prime shopping streets (Walnut & Chestnut); I had a great view as well looking straight down Broad street towards City Hall (gorgeous historic building.”

“Stayed here for three nights for a family wedding. Rest of family stayed two blocks away for twice the price. The bed was exquisitely comfortable. The subway station is directly underneath. Very convenient for getting around.”

“The warm chocolate chip cookies were a nice touch. The Neutrogena bath products were great. The room size was very nice for 2 people. Not much of a view from the room, but was fine. Staff was friendly and our luggage was stored while we waited for our evening flight. Good location if going to the Kimmel Center or around City Hall. Enjoyed staying here and would definitely stay there again.”
