• The hotel was centrally located and the room was gorgeous.
• The valet parking garage is expensive but there are ample parking garages nearby that charge up to twenty dollars less per day.

“The Renaissance Chicago Hotel was a perfect retreat at the heart of Chicago. It was close to everything we wanted: theater, restaurants, the park, and the lake, but quiet and peaceful in our room. The decor of the room was modern but elegant and the staff was friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to get the most out of their Chicago vacation.”

• Great hotel with spa. 24 hour room service is amazing.
• Didn't notify me of daylight savings clock change. Missed train.

“The experience at this hotel was greater than I could have imagined. I had one of the best massages I've ever had. The steam room was nice too. I couldn't believe the hotel had 24 hour room service! That is great for me because I like to be out late, and I can grab a bite to eat from the comfort of my own room.”

• Need more pillows on bed other than down.

“My husband and I wanted a small get away for our 1st year Anniversary, this was an excellent choice. I would recommend this hotel for other occasions. The staff is friendly the rooms are modern with comforts of home. The lobby was full of life and fit the stereotype of a 4-star Chicago Hotel!”

• Friendly staff, relaxing ambience, beautiful surroundings, and comfortable beds, excellent room service and very clean.
• Business center closed on weekends, no "self service" terminals, and the rate for internet access was expensive.

“I was very pleased with my experience. From first arriving and being greeted by the friendly doormen, to checking in with the courteous front desk staff, to seeing my beautiful, spacious, clean and comfortable room, I was blown away by the experience. Hands down the nicest hotel Ive stayed in this year.”

• I loved how they served fresh water with different fresh fruit flavors in the lobby.
• I did not like the strong perfume smell.

• It was perfect for my needs.

“Excellent location. Walk to all shopping and attractions. Train outside back door of hotel. Was moved to VIP lounge floor with beautiful view of river & lake. Excellent service. Maid threw out my contact lens solution (thought I had checked out since luggage was delayed and nothing else in room). Immediately realized their mistake and brought me a new package on a silver platter. Very comfortable location, a++ experience. Great value.”

• Room nicely designed and colors appealing.
• Our fridge didn't work and was not replaced until next day.

“Room was spacious and pleasant. Attractive colors and comfortable bed. Very clean. Great location. We enjoyed our stay and would go back. Would have hung out in the lounge but it wasn't that appealing to us. We were charged for a mini-bar item we didn't use so had to correct with staff. Doorman great.”

• The hotel staff was very helpful in helping me find out how to travel around Chicago.
• If I needed a taxi a member of the staff would always get the taxi for me, but I always felt obliged to him when I don't think I needed to.

“The hotel overall was felt luxurious and comfortable. I was only in town for a night, but it was very convenient location to get to major attractions in Chicago. Also it was close to the train station which takes you to the airport (only a $2 ride) which is much better than the $40-45 taxi ride to the airport.”

• It was posh which made it a very nice place to stay. The pool and hot tub were also a big plus!
• The room temperature was too cold and we could not get it any warmer. It was a cool night in Chicago for a July night.

• The location is awesome.
• My wife and I did not like the restaurant. The food was not very good and the service was marginal.

“The location is great with this place. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay. The only thing that we didn't like was the main restaurant. You need to look and act like you have money in order to get the service that you would expect from a 4 or 5 star hotel. My wife and I there celebrating her birthday and just happen to be wearing casual clothing, which was our down fall for the lack of service. Long story short, I would recommend the hotel, I just wouldn't eat at the main restaurant.”

“The hotel was beautiful. I've been here before on business - this time it was for a weekend getaway with the family and it more than met our expectations. Our teen age children would have appreciated a free breakfast - we ended up at west egg - recommended by hotel staff - it was great!”

• To me, the room seemed no better than a Holiday Inn. I have stayed at the Hilton which is listed as the same as this one and there is no comparison.

• Front desk gave us the run around instead of helping us.

“Pretty, elegant, quiet, convenient to the "el" orange line from midway. Night light in he bathroom under the vanity. Loved the bathrobes. Iced water in glass carafes in the lobby.”

• We loved the bed and the view was great! Beautiful at night.
• If I had to find something to complain about it would be that we felt the prices in the restaurant we a bit high.

“We loved this hotel. We would definitely stay there again. I would recommend paying a little extra for a river view room. The view both during the day and at night was terrific. It was clean and very comfortable. It was also just a short walk across the bridge to Smith and Wollensky, where we had an excellent steak dinner outside by the river. Easy walk to Michigan Avenue but would recommend taking a cab to Navy Pier.”

• The beds were excellent, and the rooms were very high quality from the carpet to the bathroom fixtures.
• About the only thing that I did not like was the escalator was getting repaired.

• The location was excellent. The room was satisfactory. Pool, etc very nice.
• Our toilet was broken. I asked for extra coffee for the room 3 times without a response.

“The $40 charge/night for parking seemed excessive, although that might be the going rate. It did have a good location for shopping and theatres. It was nice that this was in walking distance. The pool/exercise facilities very good. As noted above, disappointing to have a broken toilet and that the staff didn't respond to request for extra coffee for the room.”

• Very modern - amazing beds / comfortable pillows, I think I am going to buy one.
• Service in restaurant was a bit slow considering the number of people dining at the time.

“This hotel, itself, is not very warm nor charming. Each member of the staff I interacted with was wonderful. The room was above average, not spectacular. The bed was comfy. The best thing that I liked. It was a dog friendly hotel. If I would've known this beforehand, I would've brought my own dog.”

• The waiter we had in the restaurant and the restaurant was excellent.
• The room was to warm for us to sleep and the noise from the street kept us from being able to have the window open.

“The hotel was beautiful. All public areas kept immaculate. The beds were very comfortable and the bedding was luxurious. The bathroom was roomy with all the amenities. There was plenty of space in the room and the desk and easy chair were very comfortable. A hotel facilities book would have been very welcome with some information about city attractions and restaurants.”

• Sink drain was slow - reported at checkout. Vanity mirror bulb out -reported same.

• Many rooms near the elevated railway and noisy.

“Had to change rooms once. Too noisy near the el. Staff helpful. Breakfast buffet cold and overpriced. Fabulous location in Chicago. Nice walking area and very convenient to the loop, the no. Michigan ave. And theater. Great front doorman and concierge help. Very quick car valet service. Gets a tad crowded on weekends when there is an outside function in the hotel. Nice pool and workout area. Overall a tad overpriced but I suppose this is what big city hotels get for an ordinary room these days.”

• The staff went beyond to make sure my Chicago trip was great.
• It's trivial, but the bathroom door was designed to close automatically, which meant the full length mirror did too, a door stop would have helped.

“It is in a great location, a block off the theater district, walking distant to great shops and attractions. The rooms are generously laid out and plush, including nice towels and down comforters. The concierge staff were phenomenal at helping plan my 2 days of free play in the city, they even came up with a 'rain plan.' Over all - and A+ - I hope to stay here again in the future.”
