• The views of the Mississippi, the French Quarter were excellent from our room and the lobby.
• Service in the restaurant was slow and not very professional. I told the desk. I attribute it to a very slow night.

“Excellent location, views, and decor. Staff very helpful. Rooms were upscale having been totally redecorated since Hurricane Katrina. We will return.”

• It was in the heart of all major sites in New Orleans.
• Under renovation. No pool.

• The bed linens were awesome!
• Trying to find how to enter the hotel.

“The hotel was attractive and you felt safe. The bed linens were great and the TV was nice, but did not feel like I was staying in a four star hotel. For the money I think I could have gotten a better location for shopping and dining.”

• Hallways were dirty; window was very dirty, parking charges each time you exit.

“The hotel has a great location, walking distance from the French quarter, casino, and restaurants. Aquarium and Imax were just down the block. Posh stores in the attached shopping center. Room furnishings were way under they style and elegance you would expect from this price range hotel, my company frequently has events here in new Orleans, and we will never come here again. We recommend Harrahs hotel for this price range and location, we found it to be simply, awesome! Brace yourself if you plan to drive in and park at the hotel. The hotel does not own it's own parking (WTF.), the parking garage charges you each time you exit the garage, no discounts from the hotel or any other kind of validation, in fact the hotel offered no sympathy or assistance with the arrangement at all. This a hotel you definitely want to keep your shoes on in the hall for those late niter ice runs, the hall carpets were absolutely "funky". New Orleans tourist district is absolutely fantastic; you should come and see it, but try another hotel. We live nearby and frequently stay overnight in the city, but never here again.”

“The room was extremely comfortable. The staff went above and beyond the call of duty. The first night, I had some problems sleeping and went in search of a vending machine that carried milk. I ended up at the front desk, and the desk clerk went to the kitchen to get some milk for me. He even asked if I wanted whole, low fat or skim. A couple of nights later, I had a blister on my foot and, of course, no band aid. Again, the clerk at the front desk came to my rescue. I ordered room service twice, and was completely satisfied. And, even though, I was a female staying alone in new Orleans, I was not at all nervous because of the security in the hotel. Room card keys were necessary to operate the elevator, and the hallways were very brightly lit.”

“The hotel is beautiful inside and the people were nice and helpful. We had young children with us and they enjoyed the pool and room service. I would stay there again for sure.”

• View of Mississippi river from lobby was breathtaking.
• Parking was inconvenient, as in all nova French quarter.

“For the upscale traveler this hotel could not be better. It offers superb atmosphere with breathtaking views of nova and the Mississippi river. The green room bar is inviting and comfortable; a great place to unwind after a day touring new Orleans. The roof-top pool with bar service is truly fantastic and can tempt couples to its romantic views of after-dark new Orleans. The hotel experience was comfortably rewarding for travelers with upscale taste.”

• My husband particularly liked the lobby and the view of the Mississippi River.
• No room service, on edge of the quarter not in it, wake up calls not fulfilled.

“We went the weekend of the French quarter festival. The hotel was right next to the fairgrounds and was super convenient. Also, the staff was extremely nice and the place was very clean. I would recommend to others. Fiji, all of the flowers, plants and greenery in the hotel are real. No silks. Thought you might like to know that!”

“Overall experience was good, staff was helpful and friendly. The room carpet could have been cleaner as well as the bathroom. I'm a big coffee lover and the in-room coffee pot was very dirty and the brand they had I have never seen before so I didn't try any. I would recommend this hotel to others.”

• The room did not feel totally clean.

“The hotel is beautiful, but it seems like it has lost some of its glory. I had trouble with who ever I talked to on the phone on the day before my arrival. I asked them to put my sister's name as someone who could check in because it turned out her flight got in earlier than ours. The agent assured me that she had her name on the reservation, but the next day, the front desk clerk did not have her name anywhere on our reservation. Overall, it was a good experience considering the problems in New Orleans with finding and keeping staff.”

• Non-smoking room smelled of smoke. Bathroom needs updating. Shower head sprayed water over entire bathroom.

“Overall the hotel was average. I would not stay again. We requested a non-smoking room, however it smelled like stale cigarette smoke. It had definitely been a smoking room at some point. The room was clean, but the bathroom was run-down. There were no instructions on how to reach the front desk.”

• The elevator system becomes a hassle during made grass.

“This hotel was fantastic. From checkout to arrival my expectations were exceeded in every way. The elevator system can make getting to your car a hassle but is no problem if your walking or taking a cab (valet was not running because of made grass. during my stay).”

“I understand the difficulties with operating post-Katrina and the challenges of staffing. However, the attitude that permeated this establishment was disinterest. From the neon tower sign which after 18 months is still missing most of the letters to the maid who was upset because we were not ready for her at 10 am (.in new Orleans!) -- Because we were her last room! Yes, it was a good value for my price, but the entire experience was missing (actually oblivious of) the client-focused finesse of a 4 star hotel.”

• It was dirty, exercise room was terrible, the bar did not open until 5 pm, and it smelled so bad I did not want to be in it.

• I loved the location overlooking the river. Fire works display was awesome.
• It took a while to get an elevator.

“I loved everything about the hotel. They took care of everything that we needed. I had to bring my grandbaby with me to the hotel and they put a portable crib in the room for her which was quite a blessing. Everyone was very helpful and ready to assist.”

“If you plan on staying downtown, the Wyndham New Orleans Canal Place is an ideal location. Also, the beds are quite comfortable however beware of the pillows because they were not that supportive.”

• The location was easy walking distance to the primary attractions in New Orleans.
• The main entrance is tucked away and difficult to drive to.

“The hotel has great views of the river and is in a convenient location at the edge of the French Quarter and right across from Harrah's casino. The rooms are beginning to show wome wear and tear, but the public areas are immaculate. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Overall, we had a great stay there.”

• The location of the hotel was great. It is very close to shoping and the action of the French Quarter.
• There was really nothing that we did not like.

“I was very please with our stay. The staff was very friendly and though the hotel is older it is very neat and clean. The location of the hotel makes it a great place to stay for any visit to New Orleans. The veiws of the Mississippi River are like none other. On the roof there is a pool that over looks the river. This is a very relaxing spot.”

• Conveniently located, sharing the same elevator as the Shops at Canal Place. Within easy walking distance to Jackson Square.
• Bathtub had not been cleaned. Drops of water were still present in the tub along with an opened soap, shampoo obviously used by the previous tenant.

“I checked in a bit early (2:00 p.m.), but they had a room available. Unfortunately, the room had not been cleaned completely. The bathtub looked like someone had just finished a shower, with water droplets, used soap, and opened shampoo. Everything else was as I expected. The location is superb, within walking distance to the French Quarter sites, across the street from Harrah's Casino. The hotel lobby is actually on the 11th floor, not the ground floor, so it is a little confusing with no one there to direct. But, once you get to the lobby, it is spectacular. The view of the Mississippi and the French Quarter is unbeatable here in the lobby as well as from the rooftop pool. (although, the pool is small and crowded in the heat of New Orleans). It doesn't have the New Orleans flavor (courtyards and fountains), but it has all the amenities of a 4 star hotel.”
