- The location was great.

“This was very disappointing. Room was dirty, very noisy, sink was cracked, and towels were used. Not very satisfied. After complaining situation was somewhat remedied and we received complimentary dinner. We wasted a lot of time waiting for things to be remedied.”

- The location of this hotel is great.
- The hotel has obviously been renovated since Katrina, however it still smells musty in the rooms and there are signs of some mold.

“Overall, the hotel experience was good. The front desk staff was friendly and efficient but not very accommodating. I called the hotel to request a room with a king bed which I was told would be available; when I checked in no rooms with king beds were available.”

- Staff was friendly.
- Was not very happy with rooms and the walls are thin.
“I guess for the price I paid it was sufficient for the needs. But with it be the Doubletree, my expectations were a little higher than what was received. The staff was definitely friendly. I had (2) non-smoking rooms booked. I was given smoking rooms. They seemed nice. Beds were comfortable. But I ended up switching room due to the noise and smoke smell. The walls are thin! I could hear every word from the occupants next door. They moved me to other room. It seemed like an old storage closet. The room had "Murphy beds" in it with track lighting, the AC didnt really work, the bathroom counter top seemed unfinished. The room looked like it belonged to a La Quinta from 1980. I was too tired to move again.”

- Charge for internet in room; password required for free access first floor; inadequate space to use internet.
“I require Internet connection for my job. Charge in room was $11.95 per day; free on first floor, but daily password required - very inconvenient - and inadequate space for use of laptop (light, table surface). Room cleaning sketchy, especially in regard to towels and glasses. Reception desk understaffed. Restaurant and bar very much over priced ($2.50 for 8 oz. of club soda). Bar closes early. Hotel just not conducive to comfortable socializing or today's business.”

“OK hotel in good location. Bathrooms are very small and the counters are amazingly low as are the shower heads. There also seemed to be very little hot water for the showers. We had trouble with housekeeping every day -- not leaving clean towels and glasses, not cleaning room. When we opened our drapes there was a lid from a to-go coffee cup behind them on the floor so they obviously don't vacuum thoroughly. The front desk staff was exceptional. Not sure why other service was inconsistent.”

- Mostly, I enjoyed the bed. I liked the cleanliness and views, perfect morning sunlight.
- Valet had no organization. Front desk daytime staff was always too busy to help yet still had time to chat w/each other. Bathroom door broken.
“This is a great place to stay if you dont have service needs. Its New Orleans just party Bourbon St wasnt far yet far enough away to not hear the noise. Internet was 12 bucks for the connection (Ethernet). Parking was $32.50/per day and they aren't liable with your car, items etc.”

“This is a great hotel for business travelers and/ or persons who do not mind an older hotel and are on a tight budget. The rooms are more than adequate and clean, the staff is excellent and the location is terrific. Close to the French quarter, arts district, convention center and next door to Harrah's. I have stayed there before and hope to stay there again.”

- I like the location and the cleanliness. The Hotel has been well kept.
- I didn't care for the staff. They were not very helpful with the room reservation.
“I called to confirm my reservation the morning I was to arrive. I was told that I had a 2 Q non-smoking room. When I arrived at the Hotel, she claimed that I had a smoking room. She said that they were booked and that I had no choice. I spooked to the manager and she agreed that they had no more rooms. When I told them that my husband had asthma, they suddenly found a non-smoking room.”

- I loved the location of the hotel in relation to my trip needs.
- I did not like the size of the hotel rooms which was surprisingly smaller than expected.
“Overall, I enjoyed the hotel due to its centralized location. I expected more amenities to be offered such as a complimentary meal besides a warm cookie upon check in. The rooms were smaller than expected and the heating/cooling units seemed antiquated in that our room was too cool for comfort and the engineer explained the output of the heating system was limited in offering heating that was satisfactory to my needs.”

- Valet parking was too expensive felt like a rip off.

- The location was great! Right on canal street, short walk to everything in the French quarter and right next door to the casino and the river.
- The hotel is under renovations. Loud hammering woke us up every morning while trying to sleep in.
“This is a great budget hotel with a great location. Rooms are nice with great views of the city and French quarter. But the hotel is under renovations. They did have signs posted about the renovations, but I did not expect to be awakening by loud hammering every morning we were there. For business and family users this would be fine, but for people like us that came to new Orleans for Halloween weekend for late night fun, it was not fun being awaken by loud hammering early in the morning while we were trying to sleep in. The hammering was on the floors above us, when we asked the hotel if we could get another room, they said they were booked. Great hotel, great location, but we did not get much sleep from 7am to noon due to the constant hammering.”

- The warm cookies, large fluffy towels, comfortable bed.
- No easy parking, expensive valet parking, reconstruction noise in hotel, charged for internet that was hardwired.
“The staff was on top of everything and willing to help at the slightest request. The room was nice, basic, low ceilings and a strange layout as there were two sets of connecting suite doors. It was wonderful to have crisp linens, fluffy towels, and extra pillows. I dislike the lack of secure parking, and the high price for the valet parking. Also the fee to connect to the internet was around $10, and that was with hardwiring, as only the first and second floor had wireless.”

- Small rooms, construction noise occurring early in the morning making it hard to sleep whilst on vacation.
“I thought the hotel was average. Hospitality was fair, the rooms were small. They overcharge for parking $28.00 daily. I was very annoyed that construction was taking place while I was trying to sleep in. I was looking forward to resting and could not. Drilling and banging going from 9am to 6pm. Monday to Saturday. It killed my vacation. I would appreciate being told this was going to be happening prior as I would have made a different choice for my vacation stay.”

“Great location, nice clean queen bedroom, clean bathroom, does not reflect Katrina problem that I read in some reviews online. Staff nature was mixed, mostly helpful. Need to upgrade their restaurant; the breakfast buffet was not worth the 14.95 price tag. They charge for their location which is excellent; being next to Harrah, French quarter and the river walk. ”

- It was cheap, near the French Quarter and across the street from Tarrah's
- No support staff. Parking was difficult and there was no maid service.
“You get what you pay for. It is cheaper than any other hotel in the area by quite a bit. You can park for free about 5-6 minutes away if you gamble at Tarrah's But, all you will get is a bed. Don't expect room service or even maid service. So, if you just need a bed near the Quarter and Tarrah's, then you can't beat this value.”

- Desk staff friendly helpful.. There is a lot within walking distance.
- Breakfast buffet way overpriced... Charged twice 3.50 each for 1 cup of coffee.

- It was close to the river walk.
- No trash cans in room; room was a bit run-down.
“My stay in the Double-Tree was alright. I would not say that it was great because the bath room was too small, and the room did not have a trash can. Also, the window seal was broken and falling away.”

- The hotel was in a great area. It's the hotel I perfer when in N.O.
