  • Again, no mention of parking fees and no notice that smoking isn't allowed in the hotel.

“The elevator has a problem and I was placed on the 5th floor knowing that I smoke and that the elevator was on the fritz, it seemed to me that the staff might have made some concession.”

“This property is very old and lacks modern facilities. Front desk person tried to give us a room in third floor with no window. After severe protest, they gave us a very bad room in second floor (end room), next to very noisy ice machine. I will never recommend this hotel to any friend and family.”

Cleanliness:[6] • Staff:[6] • Location:[7]

  • The courtyard area with the pool was quaint. The staff was friendly and helpful.
  • The odor from the rooms was stale. The carpet was sticky. Bathroom door was not working. Room was poor.

“This hotel is a good for those who want to experience the nightlife on Bourbon Street. However, for those who are not into the nightlife scene the location is loud. The rooms were outdated with a moldy smell and sticky carpets. The staff was friendly and helpful. However, I would choose another location next time.”

Cleanliness:[5] • Staff:[4] • Location:[7]

  • The valet was nice. It was 1/2 a block from Bourbon Street which was very convenient.
  • Our room smelled heavily of pot, infect most of our floor did. The beds were awful, hard to sleep on.

“Although the room was conveniently located (i.e. only 1/2 a block from Bourbon Street and close to Jackson Square), I would recommend staying in a different hotel. The staff, I dealt with, were not very helpful and seemed very cold, with the exception of the valet, who was very nice and efficient. The lobby is small but nice. Our room, and our floor, however smelled heavily of pot and was very dingy. There was a stain on our bathroom floor, which makes one wonder of the cleanliness. The beds were awful and very uncomfortable. I would recommend maybe staying a little further off Bourbon Street and in a nicer hotel. Some of my travel companions stayed in The W hotel which was very nice! Would not recommend this hotel at all!”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[10] • Location:[10]

  • Huge room; beautiful courtyard. Authentic New Orleans!
  • No on-site restaurants, but very close to many.

“This is an amazing hotel! The buildings date back to the 1700's; the court yard is gorgeous. It is small, so it does not have all the amenities of a larger hotel such as room service or restaurants but it has a charm that can not be beat. The location is great - walking distance of everything in the Quarter - plus I felt safe. The hotel has it's own roof top garage. The only negative is there is no self parking; you must valet. I understood why though, because access is only by elevator which of course made it more secure. I highly recommend the Place De Armes and will definitely be staying there on our next trip to New Orleans!”

  • This was an intimate, boutique hotel that was friendly, yet professional. The courtyard and lobby were beautiful.
  • The first room we were given was adequate and clean, but when we upgraded we were given a nice room with a beautiful balcony.

“This was a very pretty boutique hotel 1 block of Bourbon Street, yet we did not hear any noise within the hotel. Our first room, while adequate, did not have a balcony. We upgraded for and got an excellent room with a balcony that overlooked the beautiful courtyard. The staff was very friendly and helpful, yet always remained professional. We could not have been happier with the location. It was within walking distance of everything in the French Quarter. We will most likely choose this hotel in the future.”

Overall Rating: 6 User Rating Score: 6
Cleanliness:[6] • Staff:[8] • Location:[8]

  • The location in the French Quarter made it easy to get to restaurants and the conference I attended.
  • The location one block from Bourbon St. meant that there was extremely loud music until very late at night, which made it difficult to fall asleep.

“This is a great hotel for someone who sleeps through anything or who is in New Orleans to party. It was the wrong choice for someone attending a conference. The loudest bar on Bourbon St. is only a block away, so I could hear bass into the early hours of the morning. I arrived at my conference exhausted every day. The bathroom is set up so that the sink is outside the room with the tub and toilet, and the door between the two is only semi-solid, which doesn't cater to privacy. Still, the room was clean and the pool was nice. Don't bother waking up for the continental breakfast.”

Overall Rating: 7 User Rating Score: 7
Cleanliness:[5] • Staff:[9] • Location:[9]

  • This hotel was located in the French Quarter, close to shops and restaurants.
  • The hotel lacked some pretty standard amenities and the carpets were filthy.

“The hotel staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area, but they couldn't make up for the hotel's shortcomings. On the minor end of the scale, I was annoyed to find that this "upscale" hotel provided shampoo (not conditioning shampoo), but no conditioner. We had to contend with other guests banging on our walls several times while we were trying to sleep because they thought the loud music we could all hear was coming from our room. At first we thought the music was drifting from Bourbon street, but it wasn't. Calls to the desk to complain about the music (and the banging guests) did no good. But the biggest negative was the lack of basic cleanliness. I was shocked to find the bottoms of my 3 year old white socks almost black after walking on the room's carpet for less than an hour! The carpets were filthy, the bathtub had a scum ring, and the place was just dirty in general. I would not stay at the Prince Conti Hotel again.”

“The location of this hotel was perfect to enjoying the French Quarter. It was only one block off. But it was far enough away that when it was time to call it a night (or should I say a morning) it was quiet enough to be able to sleep. The hotel was very clean. We didn't get a room with a balcony and when asked for one they told us it would be a $20 extra charge. When we asked for a King sized bed, they told us they didn't have any available.”

Rooms need updating quite badly, carpet had stains on it. Bathroom is very small; don't expect to have more than one person in it at a time. Beds were comfortable, but room is small.
