• The Starbuck's and restaurants in the Golden Nugget were convenient.
• The upgrade was overpriced and under served and I had to ask to have my room made up daily.

“This was a disappointing experience. We had to ask to have our room made up. No free internet. Most of the time the water was gone and the snacks had run out by mid afternoon (in 108 degree weather). The pool was entirely too crowded and with that many people using the facility ~ the cleanliness of the water was questionable. There was no bar service poolside, we had to walk up to a bar and wait in line to be served.”

• Excellent stay. Staff was great. Room was great.
• No wash cloths in the room.

“I always stay on the strip, but figured its try Downtown. This hotel was a real surprise. The lobby, facilities, etc. very nice. The staff. Very friendly. The room was great: big, comfortable, and clean. The woman who cleaned my room was all smiles. I like to walk and walking around under the 'Freemont Street Experience' was fun. The poker room was comfortable and the staff very nice. The restaurant was very good, too. I have already told friends about the Nugget and I will be staying there again. I hope you pass this on to the hotel, I've been meaning to write a thank you letter, just back in the old routine (overworked over-burdened and underpaid), but thanks to the nugget, much more relaxed!”

• Renovated pool area, large rooms.
• Air conditioning does not get cold enough in south tower rooms.

“Great pool, Carson Street Cafe and buffet were great and economical. Renovated pool area is the best in Vegas. Walking distance to other casinos and several cool bars. Large, clean rooms with comfy beds. Only downside is that the rooms on higher floors in the south tower do not have adequate air conditioning units.”

• The smoke from cigarettes was minimal.
• Sewer gas was prevalent in the bathroom. Noise from the parking lot from motorcycles very early in the morning was bothersome.

• I thought the staff was great and the hotel was very nice.
• I thought the food could have been a little better. But overall it was a good experience.

“The Golden Nugget is the gem of downtown Vegas. Great gaming area with a beautiful pool. It has several areas to eat and drink and I give the Nugget four stars. I would recommend anyone to stay there. You won't be disappointed.”

• Pool is to congested and the chairs are almost on top of each other.

“Over all it was in a good location if you want to stay downtown. Pretty clean with nice employees. I think the pool and hot tub should be open later.”

• We did not get a room for 2 hrs at 4 am after checking in.

“Horrible. We had called ahead to confirm our late check in. We arrived at 3 am and tried to check in and were informed that due to a computer problem no room could be assigned. There were many others in the same boat. We waited about two hours before we got a room, which stank so bad that our clothes inside our bags which we never opened reeked. Horrible hotel.”

• Awesome pool with shark aquarium.
• Wireless internet connection. Overcharged me for orange juice at breakfast.

“Nice place. Restaurants are nice. Make sure to get a room that has internet if you need it. Wireless reception is mediocre in some places.”

“Poor air conditioners, no air exchange in rooms especially bathrooms, bathroom vents did not vent anywhere just circulated the air in the bathroom. Bedspreads nasty. Pool way too many people for the size.”

• Check in is very slow. Check in staff gives attitude for no reason.

“Check in was extremely slow. Really the hotel has had this problem for years and needs to work on this. Room quality is good. Rooms are clean, well furnished and appear nice. The pool area is amazing and makes it well worth it to stay here. The food options are good and not too pricey. Everything from fast food to a steak house.”

• Nice location, employees were nice, good food, great location.
• The rooms were not too good, bathrooms were stinky, no air exchange.

“Check in was a challenge, long lines and were given the worst rooms in the oldest part of the hotel. All of us (Wedding party), Air conditioner failed 2 times, lights out in room, tub backed up, WIFI was not working most the time, constantly harassed by timeshare people in hotel they were waiting as soon as you got off from the elevators. Pool way too small for the number of guests and pool closed to early. Phone calls and WIFI internet access very expensive. The vents in the bathrooms didn't vent outside. Just a vent cover and circulating fan. All odors, steam from showers lingered a long time. No central air or air exchange in rooms. Great location. Beware of the old part and 21st an22nd level rooms.”

• Rooms were large and clean.
• Truck emptying trash outside room every morning at about 6:30. You could hear banging and back -up sounder on truck.

• Some restaurants are too close to gaming areas.

“The Golden Nugget is the classy carpet hotel of downtown Vegas. A good atmosphere for all, but the demographic seems to be more mid - 30s to mid - 50s, which the hotel seems to want to push younger. Our room, a Gold Club Suite (complimentary upgrade), was very well appointed and would seem especially to suit any male or female traveler seeking to find some action both on and off the gaming floor. An impressive room, to say the least.”

• Excellent service in 24 hour restaurant plus good food. Short wait at check in.
• Can't think of anything negative.

“First time stay overnight in downtown LV. Room is on par with similar star hotels on the strip but for much less $. Poker room is nice as is staff but it was a little too cozy for my taste but will not hesitate to play there again. If staying downtown will stay here again.”

“The TV was broken. The buffet was bad. The room service which says we will try to accommodate every and any request well those were just words as well. Mold on the bathroom ceiling. The tank was really nice and downtown Fremont street was great to walk around in, much less hot than the strip.”

“It's a lovely place to be - relaxing, not too big. Remodeled room was inviting - I would stay again and again - it's only drawback is the parking situation across the street. Fremont street is smelly - not the hotel. Beautiful flowers everywhere. The pool is the best part, I think.”

• Where I was located, long distance from an elevator, used a wheel chair and there was a long of extra pushing just to find a place to go.

“The room was fine. The length to go to get there wasn't. Especially with a wheel chair. The food was good both in the buffet and the restaurants. The slots was well located but again hard to push up to in a wheel chair without blocking lanes. I loved the hot tub and the pool.”

• Best Hotel on Freemont Street in Las Vegas.
• No mini fridge in rooms.

“Best place to stay on Freemont in downtown. Nice clean place, great pool and Vic and Anthony's steakhouse is one of the best in Vegas. The double-decker bus stops only 2 blocks away and you can buy a day pass for 5 bucks and ride out to the south strip. There was more of a party atmosphere than some of the hotels on the strip. I previously stayed in the Venetian and while the Venetian is stunning this place is more fun.”

• It's just a very beautiful and friendly place to stay.
• There was nothing that I didn't like, it's where I always stay when in Las Vegas.

“The people that work there are always very nice. The rooms are very clean and beautiful. The staff are very friendly and always helpful. The only place I like to stay when visiting Las Vegas. The price is very good compared to other hotels that are 4 stars.”

• Very attractive rooms and a terrific pool!
• No washcloths or coffee maker in rooms.

“Very nicely appointed and quiet rooms. Well lit hallways and public areas. Non-smoking rooms truly had no odor of smoke, a pleasant surprise in Vegas. The pool, waterslide and marine life were a special treat. The hotel was family friendly and not far from the main strip.”

“Finally a place Downtown which rivals your average joint on the strip. That being said, it still feels a little old and certain facilities, like the lobby are small. From the newer towers, it is a strip style walk to Fremont St. Room was nice, but on the small side. When we went, there was still construction on the parking lot and it was a pain to get to our car. Pool was great with the shark tank and slide. The on site club was lame and the drinks were expensive.”

• The blackjack dealers are very friendly.
• The player's club application asked for my social security number.

“The Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino is perfectly located in the middle of the Fremont Street Experience. The pool area is nice, they even have a blackjack table under an umbrella if you need some shade. The guest rooms have been nicely renovated and the beds are comfortable. TV was a few years old, hope the Nugget gets flat screens soon.”

“The AC units were either very noisy and/or did not work. Staff is friendly though maid kept trying to come in the room starting at 8:00 am while the "do not disturb" sign was on the door. There is major construction of a new wing going on 24 hours a day and they don't tell you about it. The buffet is a good deal.”

• The pool was amazing and the hotel is on the nostalgic downtown strip.
• There was construction going on right outside the window it was loud and started at 6am! The rooms were old and smelly!
