  • The room size was very large.
  • Outdated decor, no amenities in the room except a hair dryer.

“The hotel portion of this casino is very outdated. The western decor of the rooms was tacky and screamed 1955 and not in a charming way! The room was very spacious, but didn't have a mini fridge or microwave or coffee pot, which is generally standard for star rating. The check in at the lobby was exceptionally slow and took over 30 minutes. Check out was moderately better at 20 minutes. The staff was very unfriendly.”

“It seems they are in the process of refurbishing this hotel. The guest room I was in needs new carpet or carpet cleaned, at the least. The beds were like a rock, which was firmer than I like. Nice peach sheets.”

  • The size of the room/beds was refreshingly large.
  • The way the king bed was made- mattress was not completely covered. But they came up and used two flat sheets.

“I totally enjoyed my stay. I need to go back to Reno and would definitely stay there again. It was very clean and very quiet. I forgot that the place was full of people because of hot August nights! Good job Grand Sierra.”

  • Restaurants were too pricey -- mostly ate elsewhere.

“Very good accommodation, however color scheme & decor of walls, elevator doors & carpets on every level (except main level) was strikingly hard on the eyes - like a psychedelic trip, or surrealistic art by an artist obsessed with geometric shapes & gaudy colors (however this would not prevent us from coming again). Otherwise, everything quite satisfactory.”

  • Swiveling doors, events at the hotel, pool.
  • The carpet everywhere seemed warned out, some walls.

“I really liked this hotel, I am sure the more expensive rooms were better but a simple one, one I stayed in did not even have a refrigerator. Even Motel 6's have those. Some of the people staying there downgraded the hotel however. Otherwise the big events did happen at the hotel so I did not have to travel far, and the place was huge!”

“I personally, had a lousy nights sleep. Band played until 2:00am at the pool - 9 floors up and I cools still hear it. Bed and pillows belonged in some cheap hotel, not a resort.”

“Seemed to be getting a little ragged around the edges the elevators always had small bits of trash in them, the bathroom tiles were a bit discolored by mold?, room carpet had a few grungy spots. Nothing bad enough to make me complain that night, but nothing good enough to make me feel real happy with the place.”

“Overall, a very good value and had I not eaten here (breakfast buffet on Sunday morning), I would have been happier with the experience. The food selection was minimal and the quality less than stellar. Having said that, the room was very comfortable, the climate control system was efficient and above all, quiet.”

  • Moldy room service, burger in trash can in room, some youth convention was going on.

“The first impression I had of the room included a stench originating from a moldy room service cheese burger that had been left in the trash can in the room for quite some time, apparently. Also, the uncomfortably high setting of the thermostat did nothing to delay the food's decomposition. While the amenities of the hotel were satisfactory, I was unable to enjoy many of them because of a convention being held in the hotel. I was not told that hundreds of young teenagers would be loudly running through the hallways and common areas for the duration of my stay. I understand that this is not entirely the hotels fault; however, the quality of my stay was obviously affected.”

“This was an excellent price for the level of hotel. Hotel pool was amazing and the nightlife was fantastic! Plenty to do for my 3 children with bowling, a pizza place, a movie theatre and of course. The pool! Highly recommended!”

  • They accepted pets.
  • Not possible to use dining if you had a pet, pet area not clean.

“The room was fine, but although it called itself a pet friendly hotel, pets could not be left alone, so there was no way for a couple to use the restaurants together. The pet area was not cleaned up and in the morning the sprinklers were on so it was not possible to take the dog there. The room was on the seventh floor, it would be better to have a ground floor for pets. The soap in the room had been used, and the carpet not very clean, other than that the room was very nice.”

“I was very happy with my room. It was large and spacious with a nice view of downtown Reno. I didn't order room service but the menu looked excellent and there is a Starbucks in the lobby which is a great feature. Definitely a four star.”

  • Pool party was too expensive. Food seems pricey - better value elsewhere in town.

  • The customer service was terrible, air conditioner didn't work, toilet was broke, room was outdated and smelly.

“Upon arriving and hour after check in time they said my room was not clean. Another hour later they sent me to check if the room was clean before they would give me keys because they said they were too busy. I took all my luggage upstairs, no maids in sight and the room was locked. When I finally got in the room it was old and outdated. The bathroom smelled and the toilet chain broke so you could not flush it. Also the air conditioner wasn't working, despite calling for help, no one ever came. We had to prop the door open to let air in from the hallway. If you ever have too stay here make sure you get a remodeled room. The customer service was the worst I have ever experienced. Beware!”

  • A few times there was room service trays or other trash left in the hall ways for a couple of days.

“The hotel is very convenient to the airport where I just started working. Until I move to the Reno area I will be staying in hotels. The GS has any service I might need. I have used the business services for web access, the restaurants and plan on using the driving range one of these trips. While some of the rooms could use some updating, overall it is a very good hotel.”

“Nice hotel but no fridge/coffee maker/microwave in room. Decent room but a bit dark; 2 lamps were unplugged, one not working at all. Large, fairly clean bathroom. Bed was a bit on the hard side but not bad. Excellent value for the price.”

“The hotel was out of rooms and could only give me a smoking room. The room was filthy. Could not get an extra blanket the first night and was told I couldn't get one for the second night as well. Had to wait 2 hours just to get an extra pillow. Supposed to be a 3 star, should be downgraded. I have been to better motel 6's for half the money. Very disappointed.”

  • There was a good variety of shops and eateries.
  • One could not normally check in until 3 p.m. The most they moved up that time was by 1 hour.

“The casino area was attractive and clean; however, the hotel decor was hideous. By hideous, I am referring to stereotypical Southwestern-style designs in very ugly colors. The hotel decor was in sharp contrast to the attractive appearance of the casino. There was a nice variety of shops and places to eat, which was a positive. The other glaring negative was the late check-in time: 3 p.m., or 2 p.m. if they have a high volume of guests.”
