“My husband picked this hotel, from his days in Aberdeen years ago. But the location is not great, and the parking lot is tiny. The room and staff was nice, but we only stayed one night. I'll be finding somewhere else to stay next time.”

“The location is great, the hotel is enormous but needs some attention in the way of decoration and refurbishment”

“Web site said that the hotel had been refurbished so I expected a higher standard. I will not stay there again I'm afraid.”

“The check in was good and friendly and the room was large and comfortable with separate bathroom. The bathroom had a clear window and only a net curtain so I avoided using the main light when in there. The breakfast was self service and excellent with attentive staff. Checkout was a little slow.”

“I was disapppointed by this hotel in spite of the central location, spacious rooms, parking, quiet bedrooms, reasonably comfortable beds, good powerful showers - and its good reputation. Although clean apart from the pillows which were stained, the bedrooms were gloomy even with all the lights on. There was no full length mirror either. One of our bedrooms had a large window which was permanently stuck 6 inches open, its wooden toilet seat was split, the radios didn't work, the quality of food at dinner and breakfast was institutional catering standard (soggy veg, precooked stir fry, watery fruit salad), smoke from the lounge continually drifted to the adjacent dining area, the staff were perfectly pleasant but appeared untrained and stood chatting loudly with each other near the diners' tables and got the orders mixed. The tablecloths were dirty (and not replaced when this was pointed out). I would not choose to stay here again.”

“An historic building with lots of good internal features. Could do, perhaps, with a subtle lightening-up, without spoiling thosed features. Area opposite station is ripe for proper re-invigoration and this hotel could become a centre point in future years. Car parking is obviously a problem, but as it is within yards of the rail and bus stations, it has other advantages.”
