“Great hotel! Husband and I celebrated our 4th Ann. (Sept 18th) with a night at the Algonquin and a show, we saw (what a great show, loved the music!). My hubby arranged a theater package and then had the concierge arrange for a bottle of champagne and rose petals to be in our room so wonderful! The staff was just so pleasant, hope we can sneak away again soon!”

“This is a beautiful, historic hotel, reminiscent of Old New York glamour. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our room was nice and clean, yet small, and the hallways narrow, which is typically for NYC hotels, especially historic ones. The convenient midtown location is great. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it.”

“Terrific overall, friendly staff at the front, the welcoming committee of the famous cat was a treat. Beautiful lobby, very aristocratic, well-appointed rooms, albeit on the smaller side. Extremely, comfy beds, and the location can't be beat! (Bryant park next door, 5th ave., times square, subway stations nearby).”

“Very nice old style luxury hotel. Demonstrating their posh setting. Suite was decorated in traditional antique style except with all updated amenities. Suites are nice with a pull out couch but the overall size is smaller than the mainstream hotels. I highly recommend this because the amiable staff and personal service makes this quaint hotel an enjoyable and relaxing visit.”

“As my first trip to New York it is in an excellent location for walking or taking the Subway to all NY events and destinations. The staff was very friendly and the hotel was very clean. Rooms a bit small, but expected. Had everything we needed.”

“The Algonquin may have some lovely rooms, but mine wasn't one of them. The sleeping room was cramped. The bathroom looked like it was shoe-horned into a closet. It had a shower stall you could barely turn around in and no tub. The air conditioning was extremely noisy. The bed was comfortable and the staff was friendly.”

“I needed to be within walking distance of my office (same block as Algonquin). I was pleased. The hotel has great old-time NYC energy: I was surprised to see how many people were simply sitting in the lobby reading, having a drink, meeting with friends/clients, at all times. Great classic energy.”

“This is a quaint hotel in a fantastic location. It has a history that transpires in the surroundings, the furniture, and the atmosphere. The rooms are small according to today's standards. Bathrooms are old style and not particularly comfortable. Not really a family place but very romantic if that is the kind of place that turns you one. We loved it.”

“Overrated. Good location but an old hotel priced just on its old reputation. AC did not work properly. Rooms were very small. Bar was closed for renovation. Everything cost a la carte. $32 continental breakfast.”

“Old hotel with small rooms. The doors are also loud so you hear doors slamming all the time. I also got a $7.00 occupancy charge bill as I left.”

“Adored the Algonquin. Excellent location. Parking garage across the street. Very close to Times Square and 5th Avenue. Room was very nice, clean, modern and though it was on the smaller side, it 'lived big. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. The Staff was superb. Received excellent dinner recommendation from the concierge. Can't wait to go back to stay at this historic NYC hotel.”
