• Nice room.
• Parking fees are ridiculous.

“We had a nice stay overall, primarily great room with a great view. This is an older hotel. Ridiculous fees (e.g. parking, anything in the minibar or the water bottles, internet access). The service level is not quite up to 4-star standards, and some parts of the hotel are showing some wear. However, if you aren't terribly picky and can tolerate some missteps. There are even quite a few things about the hotel room that were charming. It's not a bad hotel. It's just not quite 4-star.”

• Beautifully furnished, spacious rooms. Comfortable beds - even rollaway.

“Check-in was fast. Staff was very helpful & friendly. Room was spacious, quiet (even though facing Michigan Ave.), beautifully furnished. Great view of Lake M and Navy Pier in the distance. Beds were very comfortable - even the rollaway. Best Hilton in Chicago.”

• Very conveniently located, nice views of park, great rooms.
• Could smell smoke in my non-smoking room.

“Lovely hotel, historic, central location, right across the street from Grant Park. We stayed in Chicago for a taping of the Oprah season 23 premiere where she welcomed the 2008 Olympic athletes home, and many of the athletes stayed right there in our hotel. It was a great experience! Restaurants were nice and staff very courteous. I thought I lost a pair of earrings in the room and the cleaning staff even helped me look thru the room after I checked out, to help. I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay again!”

• Elegant, convenient, friendly and helpful concierge.
• Parking was expensive but this is normal for Chicago.

“The day we checked in I had to use the concierge services. The concierge on duty was incredible. The hotel was beautiful and near everything right across the street from the park. There was a beautiful view of the lake. We could not have asked for a better hotel. We would definitely stay there again.”

• Perfect location. Asked for a Lake Michigan view and the staff accommodated. Beautiful setting. Great value.
• Parking is pricey.

“Michigan Avenue location perfect for virtually any activity available in Chicago. View of the lake was beautiful. Staff was professional and courteous. Highly recommend.”

• Service at Kitty O'Brien's pub was slow at the bar.

“This was our first trip to Chicago and we could not have had a better experience due mostly to the comfort level we felt with the hotel and it's proximity to the sights and sounds of the city.”

• Numerous comfortable areas or lobbies to sit in especially right on our floor.
• Overly noisy music playing in one of only 2 restaurants in the evening when we wanted to be able to converse and could not.

“Very accommodating staff on check-in, loved the comfortable lobbies on each floor, comfortable room with 2 bathrooms, nicely located by many museums but too far from shopping and theaters to walk. Very clean with many amenities.”

• Great location, pool, nice lobby and bar, 2 bathrooms.
• Small room, maid did not clean room one day, no continental breakfast.

“Overall experience was nice. Excellent location in the center of town. Check in was pleasant, rooms were clean, bellman spent 10 minutes going over the sights to see, bar was excellent with nice drinks. Somewhat disappointed in the size of the room kind of tight for a 4 star. Additional charge to use the exercise room was disappointing. Breakfast bar was slightly above average. Note, a free continental breakfast was not offered. The maids missed cleaning our room one day.”

• Most staff provided excellent customer service.
• The concierge was not helpful when checking out.

“Overall almost every staff member provided our family with over the top customer service I want to see my staff display. The room was gorgeous, the beds were ultra comfortable, and everything we could want was at our fingertips. All in all an excellent place to spend my vacation.”

• Parking was chargeable. Very old hotel, any move you make will cost you big. Gym. Pool, parking, Internet, view.

“The hotel has 3000 rooms. you don't have a chance in getting anything in the 4 star range. In that sense I'm very disappointed.”

• We got a great suite overlooking grant park with a nice king size bed very clean!
• Need more people in the concierge desk, long waits.

“Is a very nice hotel close to the free downtown shuttle pick up and also walking distance to all major attractions of downtown Chicago.”

• Location; room with two bathrooms!
• Because of the hotel's architectural design your window may be facing another one or a dark wall.

“Hotel was great, especially for the price. Location is excellent, all major sights are within walking distance. Be careful, though, not to end up on the dark side like some other traveler had to say because of the hotel's architectural design, you may and up in a very dark corner.”

“Very good value for the money. Close to everything in the loop. Very nice upscale amenities, lobby and room. I would highly recommend staying there again.”

• Spacious, clean rooms and an extremely friendly, helpful staff.
• We loved everything!

“Fantastic location - within walking distance of Grant Park, Millennium Park, and the beautiful Chicago waterfront! The fact the Hilton Chicago is an older hotel is actually an advantage in this case, the rooms were spacious, almost twice the size as newer standard hotel rooms. And a staff ready to answer your questions and make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible is a rare treat! We loved this hotel and highly recommend it!”

• Excellent location. Put me exactly where I needed to be.
• The hallways reminded me of The Shining. It's a historic place.

“You want action in the Chicago South Loop. This is where you want to be for great access to Grant Park, Solider Field, Museum campus, lakefront trails. The hospitality is great. This part of Michigan Avenue was not as crazy as the north part of the street.”

• Location and overall hotel experience.
• Decor in the room was little old, bathroom fixtures were old.

“Wonderful location. Great overall hotel. The room was a nice size for a downtown hotel. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was however a little small, with old fixtures. A fan would also have been helpful.”
