  • Great history, location - rooms were comfortable.
  • $22.00 a day parking. Expensive lounge.

“1st time in San Antonio, staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel parking lot will cost you $22.00 a day. Lounge drinks were somewhat expensive, that's why we visited the Riverwalk many times and the hotel Lounge once. We didn't even try the hotel restaurant. Great location.”

  • Secured parking however the valet fee should have been included with room price!
  • Room was overwhelmingly small! Didn't feel need to have to pay 2 dollars for a bottle of water! Water is one an abundant resource and no need to pay!

“The room was very small! The hotel was nice but not luxurious enough for the amount spent for one night regardless of the location! No complimentary breakfast which as not a big deal until you get charged 2 bucks for a bottle of water that they have available in the room which I felt should have been free! For the money I spent on this room I could have very well spent a few dollars more for a four may be even five star room and would have had more luxury, amenities, and better location! Had i spent half the price of this room I would have had an even more variety of amenities included with an exceptionally clean and beautiful hotel down the road from this one! I was not pleased at all with this hotel and will never book again with them!”

  • The location was great. The lobby was beautiful.
  • The towels in the room were very dingy and rough.

“This hotel is in a great location, just a couple of steps from the Riverwalk. The entrance to the hotel was beautiful and the room was very nice and roomy. The only problem we had was the number of towels and the quality of towels that were placed in the room. There was not enough towels placed in the room and the towels were dingy and rough.”

  • Staff was very helpful with boarding passes and obtaining refrigerator for insulin storage.
  • Refrigerator did not work, but I did not let the hotel know this, took care of it myself.

“Hotel was great. Price was incredible. Was on corner of hotel, so got a good view from both areas. Was noisy outside the first night, but this was when the one won game 7. This was no reflection on the hotel though.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[10] • Location:[10]

  • The room was very spacious, not cramped and I liked that it had a desk.
  • Valet was $22, which seemed a little steep. I stayed at the W-Dallas (which is also a Starwood hotel, and their valet was $10).

“The location was great within walking distance of the Rivercenter Mall, and a block from where the Fiesta Parade took place. The hotel had a more historical feel; our room was spacious and had a beautiful bathroom. The only thing that I didn't like was the parking, it was full both days that we were there, and we had to park across the street in another separate parking garage, that cost me $6 additional a day, which was $16 less than their valet (for overnight guest it will cost you $22!) The parking would be my only complaint, everything else was wonderful.”

  • Snacks.
  • Inconvenienced and frustrating.

“Accommodations were unacceptable! We were given a room with one double bed. We requested roll a way beds but were only given one, leaving one child without a place to sleep comfortably. We got 2 rooms and the guests in the other room had the exact same problem. The hot tub didn't work and we waited for our car for almost an hour upon departure.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[9] • Location:[9]

  • Historic location, kid friendly yet not rowdy, had bar/food available, parking covered and connected.
  • I do like to park my own car - so I did though it was all valets.

“The price was great for location. Intent is new hotel within river walk area. This hotel was great and made for a wonderful trip so family could walk to places and never pull out cars once we were there.”

  • The lobby and the restaurant.
  • The bathroom was too small and needs to be updated.

“Overall the hotel was fine. The bathroom needs to be renovated. There was no refrigerator unless you paid a fee. The newer hotels now offer a refrigerator and a micro wave. This needs to be considered.”

  • Really great tall ceilings in the rooms.
  • The pool was not good! No view out of room.

“Really beautiful, great history, central location but off the main river walk strip. Walking distance to anything you want to do.”

Cleanliness:[1] • Staff:[2] • Location:[9]

  • The hotel was conveniently located near the major tourist sites.
  • The room bedding was stained, notified front desk at 3:30 pm upon check-in, by 11:30pm the maids still couldn't get it fixed so we slept on the sofa!

“It was immediately evident the hotel was dated but newly renovated hotel. Had it not been for the problem with the bedding stained with who knows what, and the fact that the front desk, housekeeping could not fix it, I would've enjoyed my stay. After several complaints to the front desk, housekeeping finally showed up around 10:30 pm with bedding that was too small for the bed, 45 minutes later we decided to sleep on the sofa. At 11:30 pm, housekeeping came to the door with more bedding which I took at the door then bundled it on the floor because I had no energy to continue the fiasco. I only slept 4 hours that night. In the morning, the best the front desk could do was offer us free breakfast. After witnessing the washing of the bedding, I wasn't about to chance eating on clean dishes! I declined and left very dissatisfied! I would like a response from hotel management (which was no where to be found) concerning room 532 on the night of july 28, 2007.”

  • The lobby and amenities made our stay memorable and enjoyable. The staff was friendly and helpful.
  • The room and bathroom was small and cramped with few places to put our personal items. Parking was very expensive.

“Some promised amenities, such as free bottled water and newspaper, weren't free. The location and staff were definitely positives, but the room was cramped for the price. The lobby was beautiful and the breakfast buffet was reasonably priced. Unless you can get a hotel with a room that overlooks the Riverwalk, the Gunter Inn is a nice alternative.”

  • Friendly staff, awesome location, brilliant architecture.
  • $23 to park for one night.

“We were pleasantly surprised. After a long walk along the river walk, we all relaxed in the pool and hot tub that were open till 11. Architecture and location were awesome. Downtown SA is absolutely beautiful.”

  • Historic.
  • Really a poor value for the money.

“Club floor continental breakfast did not meet expectations. Cramped space, poor food choices, one computer for all club guests to use. Really the tiniest bathroom I've ever seen in a commercial hotel. On the plus side, hotel is historic and rooms are elegantly furnished. Comfortable bed.”

  • The location was great and the concierge was excellent in assisting us with restaurant suggestions and reservations.
  • The cost of internet access in the business center is very high.

“The Sheraton Günter¿s location is fantastic, perfect for those who like to walk rather than have to drive to see a site. Even if you don't like walking, all the major attractions of san Antonio are only a few blocks away. The location is safe and quiet, there are restaurants and bars all along the same street so nightly dining and entertainment is a stones throw away if you want to stay of the river walk, and the concierge is more than happy to assist with suggestions, reservations and menu choices. River walk access is around the corner. The swimming pool is very small but clean and quiet, but if you are looking for a resort with a nice pool area, this is not for you, but definitely good enough for kids. Internet access was ridiculously expensive, but where isn't. Our room was clean and of a decent size but don't expect a luxurious bathroom, it was small but who spends time in the bathtub on vacation? When it comes to parking choices, ask the valet for self park. It only costs $6 a day and although it's off site, it's not even a half block away. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel for leisure or business. I just love the pure rooms-allergen free-well, pretty much.”

  • The beds were extremely comfortable.
  • The rooms seemed older and needed remodeling.

“This hotel is better for business travelers. The restaurant seemed unprepared for regular meal times. (No milk at breakfast, running out of food at the buffet.).”

“There was no view from anywhere around the hotel from our room, just other buildings. Therefore, there is no need to really stay in. Most of our time stayed was basically only to sleep. Every day/ night, we were out and about. That is why I feel the price I paid was too much. Overall, the stay was nice.”
