Camping On The Gulf Holiday Travel Park
Dec 13, 2008 by steve from Hudsonville

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8

  • Great staff, friendly,clean park.
  • Quite costly.

“We stay here every spring (early April) for a week for many years now and really like this park. Great location, beach walks, close to malls, visit Blue Angels (1 hour away), lots to do and see or just relax. We are going back in spring 2009.”

Pebble Creek Golf Club
Nov 24, 2008 by Hidden Acres from Tampa

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • A pleasure to play.
  • A little short but plays much longer.

“Talk about value. I've played this course in past years and I have to say it was the best I've ever seen it. The greens were great, the fairways are beautiful and new bunkers! Had fun in the Irish Pub and no doubt the friendliest staff I have ever seen at a golf course. It's obvious the new management knows what they're doing.”

Nelsons Fishcamp
Nov 11, 2008 by jimmy from pendleton In

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Wonderful place for the whole family.
  • Nothing.

“One of the most beautiful places in Florida. When I was 14 my family took a trip to Nelsons fish camp, I know it says fish camp but this place is amazing. This is where I caught my first 8lb largemouth. I will never forget being in the boat with my grandpa and my father. Those Bass love Shiners, the river is so peaceful its as if Monet is painting every bend of the beautiful Oklawaha River shimmering with wild life. My grandmother and grandfather were snow birds they would come and stay for the winter. My father, mother, my sister and I could not wait to get there. It's a quiet place, safe for the whole family. I would encourage anyone to take their family there. In this world of video games and home entertainment a child could easily loose the wonder of mother nature. I employ you to take your children here for the time of their lives, I am now 37 and I plan on taking my son as soon as I get the chance. thank you, I'll never forget the fond memories.”

Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital
Oct 21, 2008 by Sherri

Overall Rating: 2 User Rating Score: 2

  • Doctor and assistant nice and friendly.
  • Very expensive band aid.

“September 2008 My 16 month old grandson was scratched in the face by a cat. The walk-in clinic sent us to ER at Helen Ellis. Four or five hours later a very nice friendly doctor and his assistant cleaned the scratch and put a band aid on it. The hospital charged $453.10. The doctor's bill for $285.00 came a month later. The total charge for this service $738.10. Since the grandson is not insured there is a 20% discount on doctor bill ($57.00)! So now total bill for thorough cleaning and band aid with no insurance $681.00. When I called to complain to the hospital about the charges I was told $453.10 is the basic charge for presenting yourself in the emergency room.”

Live Oak Bowling Center Inc
Oct 9, 2008 by Suzannah from Lake City

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1

  • Could be a really fun place for families.
  • Staff yells at children and very rude.

“Do not take children here, they are not welcome. My friend and I took our girls to the alley on a Thursday morning. We were almost the only ones there. The girls each crossed the line once and were very rudely yelled at. Once the rules were explained, they did not do it again. The two ladies running the place continued to yell at each other and our children until we left. One lady even informed us that this is not a playground. The girls were not bothering anyone, hurting anything or causing any problems. They were simply acting like almost 3 year olds. I have never been treated so rudely at a family friendly establishment. If you do not allow children, thats fine, just put a sign on the door stating that. My fried planned on having a birthday party there. If 2 little girls bring those women to screaming, what would 8 children do to them? I called back later to voice a complaint to the manager, who apparently is the rudest of the two, and she insulted me and my parenting. She also said that children were welcome if the parents could control them and have raised them right, which she told me I have not. She then hung up on me after she yelled and insulted me some more. We will never set foot in that place again, because apparently you have to be a senior citizen and a miserable person to bowl there.”

Greenacres Bowling Center
Oct 7, 2008 by Larry from West Palm Beach

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1

  • The Pro shop is great.
  • The lanes are terrible.

“This place is not maintained at all. There are repeated ball calls. The floors are always dirty. The AC seems to not work at times as it is hot as you walk in the front door. The lane condition only favors those who throw the ball an average of 16mph. The snack bar staff was very rude all the time and actually say this is not Burger King, we do it our way if you don't like it go somewhere else. The manager is not very friendly. If you ask me I would just drive up the road a bit to Don Carters Lake Worth. I hear they are putting a lot of money into the center and it will be state of the art place eventually. Just my opinion.”

Manatee Memorial Hospital
Aug 2, 2008 by Carol from Bradenton

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1

  • The first person we met was nice.
  • Lobby a mess, rest rooms sloppy, nursing care once back in the rooms was deplorable.

“Well bad night, people make mistakes. Now tonight we bring my 2 year old grandson to ER. Inner ear infection, crying in pain. After 3 hours. We told her we were informed to come here from him. They had put us in a room with two chairs, no table for the baby. He ran around and 3 times tried to stick his fingers in the red light sockets. When I said something to the nurse about making those rooms baby safe, I got a nasty look and she turned and walked away. The hospital lacks the basic safety needs for the patients. I think we will drive past MMH and go to St. Pete's children hosp from now on.”

  • Away from the I-4 fray, wooded lots, friendly staff and residents, reasonably priced.
  • Could be better maintained.

“This is not your manicured RV park; It has a lot of general landscaping and clean up, which could be improved on and would add to the aesthetics of the park. The office and support staff have a positive attitude, and the majority of residents are laid back, accepting, and helpful. The park feels like it is tucked away in the woods, yet you are just minutes from all manner of dining and shopping options. I've been here for months and I love it!”

Winter Haven Hospital
May 16, 2008 by Barbara from Winter Haven

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1

  • Nothing.
  • Little concern for my care, dirty, slow.

“Went to the Emergency room today via ambulance. Was four hours before I was seen and 9 hours before I left. There was a catheter needle on the floor beside the bed. When I pointed it out to the nurse (who was very scarce the whole time), he looked at it, said "Oh" and walked back out. I feel I got rushed treatment even though it was 9 hours, and I was told I had a kidney infection; I went in after a fall and because of the pain, but was given no prescription for the kidney infection. There was trash of all sorts on the floor, beside the bed, under the bed, and desk/counter. It will be my last visit to this hospital, and I've been going there for over 53 years1.”

WonderWorks

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9

  • Pizza is no-frills, but still good.

“There are some game machines in the corner so grownups can eat more or less in peace while the kids romp. Exhibits are interactive and very fun without always getting hit for a ding more $. Smooth elevators between the floors, or take stairs with a lot of MC Escher and other optical illusion art works available for sale in the Emporium, of course. Many computer stations where you can estimate your real age. Emporium thankfully does not stock either generic Florida souvenirs or "WW-Themed" only, and is also competitively priced. Science toys, magic props and kits, Jelly Bellies, Archie McPhee stuff, candy, buttons, stickers, kids stuff, purses and packs. And the ubiquitous umbrellas and rain ponchos. Third floor laser tag was fun. Doesnt hurt like getting splatter with paintballs. Lots of games with prizes, about what you'd expect from any prize counter- nothing really worth it but the kids like it. Highly recommend the combo package of dinner show, laser tag, and wonderworks itself.”

“If you are not tiger woods and can not play 9 holes in a group of 4 in fewer than 2 hours DO NOT go to this course. The golf attendant was nipping at our foursomes heels halfway through and did not stop. He made it extremely unpleasant which was unfortunate because my father was visiting. "You didn't rent the course," he told us after we informed him that after the money we paid we were going to enjoy our day. It's very unfortunate because it is a nice course. But, if you don't like being hassled if you are not very good don't bother booking a tee time.”

  • Less than average practice facilities and the Pro is not very congenial.

“The original course, a Ron Garl design, is truly a great layout. A variety of tees and good overall condition make this course a joy to play. The second course utilizes part of the old Poinciana course and is not as interesting but still playable. If you play there try to play the original course which I believe is called Stonegate Oaks but don't quote me. Overall it's a beautiful community with a couple of really nice golf courses.”

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8

  • Touching the shark, was a neat, once in a lifetime experience!
  • It was very small, not quite worth the price, because you spend little time there.

“The Key West Aquarium was a fun outing for adults and kids. You got to look at tanks filled with some of Key West's local aquatic life. You also got to hands on activities, such as hold a huge hermit crab and touch a (harmless) shark. There was also an outdoor area, filled with lots of vegetation and ponds. This area includes baby alligators, sea turtles, and Key West's local, tropical birds. This was a fun experience that I would suggest to anyone traveling with kids.”

Greenacres Bowling Center
Jan 2, 2008 by John from West Palm Beach

Overall Rating: 7 User Rating Score: 7

  • Lots of lanes and lots of leagues mean lots of opportunity to meet new people and make new friends.
  • The ac can't always keep up when all 60 lanes are full.

“Overall, I like the place. I've bowled there once a week for the past two years. The lanes themselves are well maintained. The pin racks and sweeps break down too often for my liking. When they are, however, the staff acts quickly to either fix the problem or move you to a working lane. The ball return sometimes leaves gunk on your ball. What is worth commenting about and most responsible for my "7" ranking is the cramped space. There's no way to fix this. The tables are so close together that everyone trips over each others bags and shoes. The tables are so close to the lanes that no matter where you want to go, someone is in your way. The food is decent. The pizza is hit or miss. Sometimes it's great sometimes it's just good and some times its terrible.”

Pan American Hospital
Dec 17, 2007 by Carol from Boston, MA

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1

  • The one nice nurse (who spoke English) who kept us calm and told us to stay inside the hospital for the night, but when it was day time to get an ok to travel and leave or go to another hospital ASAP.
  • Dirty, almost no English spoken, very dangerous outside after sunset, 100% absolute chaos because of a language barrier.

“If you are injured on a flight which lands in Miami and need medical assistance while a Miami international airport you probably will be taken directly to "Miami Metropolitan Hospital", formerly known as "Pan American Hospital". If you speak Spanish you may be ok, at least to understand what is going on once you arrive at the hospital. No one will speak English, or it will be very badly broken English if they try. Remember, this is your life/body youre dealing with and you might not know why they are pointing the x ray at your chest. Try to get stable and get out of this hospital. You'll probably need a note to get back on the plane from one of the doctors so be prepared to simply ask to be cleared to fly, after your stable, and get home to your real doc! .”
