“My son and his family lived in Axel for a year 2004-05. They leased a home on the Hulsterweg (hope that's correct) My wife and I visited them and totally enjoyed our stay. Their neighbors were very good folks and welcomed them. I could look out the front of the home across the small canal and see wide open spaces across plowed fields with wild March hares fighting everywhere and pheasants flying around. My two small granddaughters loved to visit the Hernandez House restaurant and its play room (I think this is going towards Hulst). They also enjoyed the animal farms and the many historic places nearby. Axel is a nice quite place to relax and is a great base from which to launch visits to Belgium and the southern areas of The Netherlands. The landing for the ferry from Vlissingen to England is a short drive away. I also enjoyed market day in the town center and dining at the oriental restaurant there (sorry I don't remember the name). There are also banking facilities in the town center. I would definitely keep Axel in mind if looking for a nice quite place to stay while visiting this area. Remember, REAL people live here, not the ones after the tourist trade.” Popular Attractions in Axel
