This beer - which has become a national institution - is known as "the cream of Manchester". The brewery where it is made has been working its magic since 1778 when Henry Boddington created the recipe and techniques that are still used to this day. His special formula includes a unique strain of yeast and a secret blend of English hops.

Guided tours are available by appointment on weekdays and you can also visit The Brewery Tap - the Boddingtons merchandise centre for the UK - and a show pub where you can enjoy some decent food and a great pint of bitter.
