This imposing, neo-Grecian building houses a fine permanent exhibition of paintings, including several L S Lowry originals, along with a variety of important contemporary national and local works.Regular exhibitions are held throughout the year, covering all types of artwork from around the world - including photo-journalism, abstract impressionism and sculpture.Every summer, the gallery also puts on hugely popular displays of work by students from the higher education college nearby.
